GREEN ARROW or HAWKEYE? (Comic Book Question of the Week)

I've always liked Green Arrow more.

Funny, Green Arrow is my favorite character and Jeff Lemire is my favorite writer but I picked Hawkeye. That should be a testament to how good that book is.

Here's the thing. Hawkeye has been good since issue 1. It's had a light hearted and humorous feel yet still has heart too. Green Arrow has pretty much been crap since the beginning and is just starting to turn around thanks to Lemire. I like Green Arrow as a character more, but right now Hawkeye has been consistently better, longer. So I vote him. Though my answer might change the longer Lemire stays on GA.

Well, this is only taking into account when Lemire/Sorrentino jumped on. It would be unfair to take into account everything that came before them.

Goddammit... Both books are so good since Lemire and Sorrentino were put on Green Arrow. This hurts me. It hurts me so hard...

I know I can just say I can't pick but that feels like a cop out. I feel like I'm being forced to kill one of my children.

I've loved Fraction/Aja's Hawkeye from the start so it's only natural that I voted for him. Though Lemire/Sorrentino's Green Arrow is pretty good as well. I've only started reading since their run began cause the first issue of the book didn't really, well, interest me.

I just summoned the money to catch up on both series (starting at Hawkeye #1 and picking up GL starting with Lemire's run) so I can't form an opinion yet.

Its a bit unfair. Green Arrow has been fantastic since lemire took over. But Hawkeye has been fantastic since the very beginning, so good that it even received Eisner nominations. Sustained excellence gets my vote here. If Green Arrow was this good from the beginning, it would be much more of a tough decision. Still probably would've picked Hawkeye though, its just such a unique comic book .

Both of these are fantastic as characters in general and as their current ongoing books. I picked Green Arrow but only by a hair.

I chose Green Arrow. Not necessarily based on the comic book series they are in, but because I have always preferred green arrow as a character.

There are clearly more Marvel readers then DC. Marvel is porn to comic readers while DC is just a really good film. Of course porn is going to sell better and have more readers. This is basically, "who has the most readers?" How can anyone make a correct judgement unless they read both books? I read both and I chose to not to judge because it is just a ridiculous question.

I've always preferred Green Arrow over Hawkeye in terms of characters, and it's the same for these comics. They're both great, but I like Green Arrow's art better, and it delivers more intensity on the fronts of action, suspense, and mystery.

It seems like you guys read both books. Your judgements are valid. Everyone else -- shame on you! Can't make one-sided judgements. That's how people like George Bush get into office. Try both sides before voting. They're both great books. There should be no reason anyone isn't reading both of them. Money? You guys should be selling your bodies to buy both of these. They're two of the best books on the market.

To me, Kate Bishop is the best part of Hawkeye, she makes that title shine, though hopefully Fyff might prove to be an equally plucky sidekick to GA.

I did like green arrow more back when he was on optimist and was trying with the ladies and now he just feels gloomy and more like hawkeye he even looks like him now. so i pick hawkeye seance hawkey elite (arrow) is not as good.

aint it a lil premature to start comparing, Green Arrow literally just started. and if we are comparing both characters in terms of story - Green Arrow wins, Hands down. There has been soo many awesome books with Ollie

I always read Hawkeye more,but I always read Justice League too,so I liked Green Arrow ,they both are interesting,truthfully,they both are much more so then The Flash who no matter which Earth,or dimension,died before he developed enough to care. Hawkeye you cared that his love-life sucked,you cared about his problems,Green Arrow you cared that he cared about Black Canary. Hell,the Flash never got the chance lol

I read them both and both are awesome(GA only awesome since issue #17). But if I had to choose, I would say, "Pizza Dog Bro!!", ahem, I mean Hawkguy.

Too bad for Green Arrow i drop it early on but I'm still enjoying hawkeye even though i didn't read his last issue yet so I will say Clint and his women......

Green Arrow! Why are you loosing! You are ten times more awesome than Hawkeye, and you continue to challenge yourself and train to become a better archer whereas Hawkeye just shoot's and makes it. Well up until recently that is.

I'm subbed to both, but GA is too newly rebooted again to compare well with an amazing run by Fraction and co.

I vote Hawkguy. I didn't start buying single issue comics on a weekly basis again until last October, in which I took full advantage of the New 52 and the Zero Month going on at the time over at DC. Marvel was in the middle of the Avengers vs. X-Men aftermath, and almost nothing was new-reader friendly. Hawkguy was at issue #2 however, and looked very enticing. One unprovoked recommendation from my LCS's owner, and I'm walking home with the 2nd printing of issue #1 and the first printing of issue #2 which had come out that day. So yeah, naturally I fell in love with it after a few panels, and have been reading it ever since. Hawkguy was literally the only Marvel book I was reading up until Marvel NOW! (and of course I have like a dozen Marvel titles that I'm reading now) so not only is it the title I'd pick if I could only read one book from Marvel, but it is also my favorite and (in my opinion), the best series Marvel is currently publishing.

Green Arrow is an amazing book in it's own right, and the fact that it's able to be so critically and commercially successful after having more than a year's worth of awfully terrible stories is a testament to how good Lemire and Sorrentino's current run is. I love Green Arrow, and it's the only title I'm reading currently that's not a Bat-Family, Green Lantern, or Justice League book. I just prefer Hawkguy overall...

Yeah and I think that's what tips the scales. Lemire and Sorrentino's run has only consisted of 1 arc across 4 issues so far. Whereas Hawkguy's coming up on issue #11. Hawkguy's definitely had more time to shine...

Traditionally a DC guy, but now i'm a hawkguy. His book is superior to just about everything being published right now and that's a fact.

@supreme_maj: Hawkeye isn't supposed to have any super powers either though. I just find it more realistic to have to train and constantly try to better oneself to become a better archer whereas Hawkeye just shoots and hits the target dead on with no struggle pretty much every time. As an archer myself the fact that Green Arrow trains constantly and struggles to better himself is more realistic and interesting to me and is the exact reason I prefer Green Arrow over Hawkeye.

Green Arrow for me.

I went with Green Arrow. As a character, I like Hawkeye more but I'm enjoying Green Arrow's current series more. Matt Fraction gets too cutesy for me sometimes...maybe more than sometimes. If Aja was consistently the artist on Hawkeye I might have changed my position, but I have not been too fond of the frequent fill-in artists.

Had to go with green arrow just because it's one of the few dc books I've started picking up while so many other dc titles are getting dropped! Also, haven't read hawkeye...going to pick it up in trade.
