Greater video game franchise: Grand Theft Auto or The Elder Scrolls?

TES

TES is overrated in my opinion, GTA stomps.

I think they are pretty much comparable, while I don't think GTA gained a level of success comparable to TES until San Andreas (maybe Vice City, but I think it was SA), GTA kept giving massive entrances to the franchise, while TES since Skyrim has veen pretty much dead, and this year its gonna be 9 years since Skyrim came out.

So I think I'd put them at the same level.

The Elder Scrolls

TES peaked with Skyrim, while gta got bigger and better with every entry (for the most part). Also, gta sells way more and is tons more popular than elder scrolls. I don’t really think this is that close

I like the Elder Scrolls series much more. I have 1500 hours in Skyrim alone. I am sure I have countless hours in Morrowind and Oblivion, too.

Scrolls. Never really got into GTA.

Elder Scrolls

GTA is a better franchise, but playing Skyrim while modded is the best gaming experience I've ever had, including GTA 5 modded.

When it was in its prime, TES franchise stomped for me. Then again, the last GTA I'd actually completed was Vice City, so I might be biased.
