Ima have to choose KOTM
Godzilla: GvK or King of the monsters or Skull island?
@takenstew22: @seastone98: @eslay03:why?
@rawsos: Because I love both Godzilla and Kong. And MechaG was awesome.
@rawsos: cuz the idea of being trapped on an island where damn near everything can kill u is a really cool movie premise 2 me
Kong: Skull Island is objectively the best movie film wise, but I found it one of the more boring ones, being slightly better 2014 as far as keeping me engaged.
KotM was more fun and what I wanted out of a big monster, but the too many close call tropes along with an absolutely deplorable bunch of characters with Emma Russell being a genocidal maniac willing to gamble with billions of lives, and Mark Russell being a discount Tom Cruise version of a wildlife photographer that knew how to do everything better than everyone while always having nothing but a dickish reply to everyone else. And Eleven was just kind of there.
GvK I felt took a little bit less focus away from the humans and spent more time focusing on the monsters, and aside from Bernie and Madison being a couple of assholes to Josh the entire time with their plot being completely irrelevant to the movie, I was relatively okay with Jia and her group because they were decently likable people. I also like how we had full shots on the monster fights, not a bunch of close ups on the humans no one cares about with a leg or a head being right there in the background. I also give it props for having clear winners in their fights.
I think out of all the movies and what I want out of a giant monster movie, I’d give GvK the nod. I think I liked aspects of some of the other movies better, but it was a satisfying middle ground of wanting to see a giant monkey punch a giant lizard to make my brain do a happy. I’m not watching these for a 5 star plot movie, which as I said, I’d say Skull Island is the best film out of all of them.
