Game of Thrones vs Lord of the Rings
I actually prefer the theatrical cuts of the movies to the extended editions. Much better pacing.
I think that Game of Thrones is probably better overall, but they aren't really comparable. I like both for different reasons.
LotR they kept their quality through the three films, GoT not so much. But it's true that they are pretty different things.
I am a fan of both, but Lord of the Rings is better from where I stand.
LOTR is my favourite Trilogy of all time but even that gets stomped by GOT. GOT is on its own League right now.
GoT is kinda turning to fan fic of itself.
Indeed lol.

As much as I love LotR, GoT for me is far better. Just a better world, more interesting characters and I think when I look back at it 10-15 years from now I will still love it as much as I love it now.
LotR. Tolkien's Middle Earth was amazing in itself (even if it was a bit racist, it was a good metaphorical allegory considering the time). GoT is a one trick pony (or two I guess): kill off main characters and obscene quantities of sex. Yawn.
@t6: Plot twists? Unpredictable events? GOT stomps in terms of story writting and content in earlier seasons...Lord of the rings is literally hype before battles...
They are both good but GOT is on another level...

When Game of Thrones is at its best I enjoy it more than Lord of the Rings. Unfortunately it's often very far from its best.

Lotr w/extended addition length is around, what, 11 hours? It's generally accepted that GoT dipped in quality after season 4, so that's roughly 25 hours of good quality, it can't be compared like this, especially when you word it like GoT is as short as a few films when it's many times longer and more expansive
LOTR is one of the worst trilogies ever created , they are unreasonably long for no reason , and its not even entertaining for being long smh

Game of thrones is basically Fan Fiction at this point.
LoTR is on a league of its own.
As much as I do like Game of Thrones, this does kind of ring true. Lots of fan service and less focus on harshness and realistic story telling.
@sirfizzwhizz Do one of these, but with the books.
Season 4 >>> ROTK >>> Season 1-3 >>> FOTR >>> TTT >>> Season 6 >>> Hobbit Trilogy >>> Season 5, 7 and 8.
If GOT had kept the same quality it had for the first four seasons, it would've actually beat LOTR for me. To bad that a Douche and a Dick ruined the show.
The original high fantasy saga stomps the poor rip-off...
Cinematography, score, acting are much better, GoT ain't even in the same ballpark.

This is ridiculous. Acting? lmao Game of Thrones by a country mile.
Loved the films though.
@iamthelaw: Yeah, who are some second-rate actors like McKellen, Blanchett or Mortensen when put against the acting chops of Kit Harrington, Sophie Turner or Emilia Clarke...
Oh no, GoT should not be compared to LOTR, not with those final two seasons.
