HYPED
First Image of Grant Gustin as The Flash Released
Wish they did this good with Slade's costume.
And is it weird that I'm not hyped for this show at all? I'm sure once i see more pics and vids I will be though.
@danhimself: Look at the lines from the shadows (especially the eyebrows) and check out the seam/stitch line that suddenly stops once it reaches the eyebrow.
You got to look where the light is in the front, and not where all those heavy shadows are.
I still don't see it...you can follow the ridge of his nose straight up his forehead and there are no seams or stitches or breaks in the fabric
Okay, so another user turned the brightness up and posted this:
And it looks like you were totally right. I was mislead by by the fact that they sculpted depth into the brows on the cowl, and the shadows of the original picture blocked out most of that line in the front going down the middle of his head. My mistake.
@nox_arc: For sure. Only slight issue (no it's not the chin, I like the chin) is that it looks like he's wearing a dark red domino mask instead of having it all one piece. Still looks great though.
Probably just the lack of lighting and angle the photo was taken, but I can see what you're saying.
You were 100% correct. It was the lack of lighting.
@johnny_blaze: That's what I'm saying! Sheesh, Grant Gustins hair color is a petty issue since he can always dye it blonde.
He already appeared in 3 episodes of Arrow sans hair dye. What sense would there be in doing it now?
This can't be from The CW, no hoodie? no leather jacket? are we in the mirror universe or something?
Hahaha! He's totally wearing a red leather jacket. You can tell from the collar.
Better than I expected.
I'm glad he's not older. Look at Smallville. The show went on for 10 years and "Clark" certainly aged in those 10 years. Not that Tom Welling looked bad in year 10, but the character of Clark was in high school for the first 2 or 3 seasons, so by the end of the run, he should have been, what, around 26, 27? Welling was in his 30s by that time. You could see the age in his eyes and he was getting a little tummy on him.
If The Flash show goes a good, long time, I think I'll be happy that they've cast a young guy for the role.
It looks good. I can see how people might think he's wearing a leather jacket, but it's probably just a zip up jumpsuit. It would be difficult to hide the seams of his suit on the show so it makes a little more sense to give it an almost noir hero neckline. The hair color still doesn't matter.
@thecheesestabber: if it makes you feel any better john Wesley snips might be gay Garrick so you will have an older flash as well.
@obsidian_raindrop1: ...Gay Garrick?
@dernman: this is flash year one though so...
I like it. I like how they're able to make it look good in live-action while still maintaining the comic look. Definitely be checking this show out, since I think a Flash show when done right could be awesome.
@thecheesestabber: oh god I just busted a gut.
@juliedc: have you SEEN him in Arrow? ?? He ain't "dark an edgy". Plus, a bright red, costume just looks silly in real life.
@the_stegman: yes I have seen him as Barry Allen NOT the Flash so my worries are still legitimate and will remain so until I see his show. And I VEHEMENTLY disagree with you on whether a bright red costume is silly. I correlate dark colors with the tone of a show or movie and I am tired of everything made in the image of darkness, there is enough grimdark, it's time for something fun. So hopefully it won't look as dark in the actual show.
Looks amazing. Any other opinion is wrong,.
@lyrafay: Nah, Aquaman is easy enough, just make his scales armor. GL just had bad CG, his costume can easily be done. Flash though, when you think about it, it's kinda goofy. Bright red, lightning bolt ears, one piece. Etc.
The scales are armor, in fact.
I think if they did something like this, minus the sash and the Helmet it would look completely amazing. All Noble and Badass.
@dernman: this is flash year one though so...
and what happens when years past and he still doesn't look like he's grown into adult Flash because he has one of those faces?
Anyway I only mentioned it to find out if my guess was right on why the image didn't sit well with the poster. An image that makes his face look even younger than it already does.
Great looking, I'm so pumped for this.
@patrickborkland: I always felt Cap A's costume looked more like Flash since Flash is well far older. I think both costumes ditched the "ear lightning thing" for practical reasons. Although the older 90's flash costume did have it...

Cap was created in the 40s. Barry was created in the late 50s.
@ Captain13: Actually, Flash was created in the 40's, first appearance. Jay Garrick. Someone said the character Flash, that's why I had said that. Costume wise, there's very little similarities that's kind of like saying Deadpool is very similar to Deathstroke but there are some differences. Know what I mean?

Captain A was 41, so technically Flash is a year older...

I gotta say, Flash and Captain America look nothing alike. The only thing similar is the top head piece but flash's was always a mask, where is Captain A's was more of a little hat top and the ear things are above his ear, where is Flash's are ON his ear area. Look, how do these look similar?
