Poll Favourite fighting style in CBM, shows and animations (25 votes)

pattern 1 20%
pattern 2 36%
pattern 3 4%
pattern 4 8%
pattern 5 0%
pattern 6 4%
MIX 28%
something else 0%

So, the origins story is told, the villain is introduced, we are in the end game now and it all comes down to the fight, toe to toe, mano o mano, head to head, the heart and soul of the comics.

What kinda style pattern do you enjoy the most in movies, shows and animes?

1 - two big fellas, with less skills and brain, but with a lot of raw power and destructive force. For example:

2 - two martial artists, not that powered, but with tons of skills, brain and tactics in the sack. Examples:

3 - the combatants, the military machines, the War dogs. Skilled as hell but with no impressive tricks, choreography and etc fancy stuff, all practical, all tactical, all in the name of the winning.

4 - this is not strictly head to head model, but sooner or later they face each other. this is the "Schemers vs the good naive fellas" type. the bad guys have done a lot of shitty things to gain unfair advantage and the good guys are trying to stop them and eventually get closer to them to use their advantage in skills, power and talent about those things. Keep that in mind - this pattern is developed throughout the whole movie, and I'm talking about the end here and these ends - schemers vs good guys are not that attractive. Yet, the anticipation and suspense might get you extremely hyped, so here some examples:

5 - the brain, the mystical battles between extremely powerful charachers, focused not on the big bad muscles but rather on the mind games and concentration:

6 - the battles that nobody understands. two superpowerful beings facing each other. No brain, no muscles, no skills, just raw power:

7 - Mix between two, or some other type that I've forgotten. Explain yourself.

Mix, I love 2nd and 3rd pattern, martial art skills with a lot of strategies/tactics and practicals. Combining them makes some results like: Captain America and Wolverine.

Pattern 2. Almost all my favorite fight scenes are when two master martial artists fight. Pattern 3 is also great though.

Also, I'd consider Daredevil and Kingpin a pattern 2 as well. Kingpin is an excellent fighter in his own right. Their dynamic fits in both 2 and 4.

I like all those different patterns. It kinda depends on the character(s) involved I guess, and how the fight is choreographed on how much I’ll enjoy it. It’s hard for me to single it out

They all have their place, and I enjoy all of them when they’re done properly.

I always prefer a street level battle of skills, tactics, mobility, gear, martial arts and overall versatile ability.

WTF I'm the only person to have voted 6?!?! I had no idea I liked these films for a totally different reason to everyone else, to me the more epic the better. 2, the most voted for, is my absolute least favourite. I am genuinely shocked and confused by these poll results, very interesting...

Comic book films and television write in Pattern 2 more often since Winter Soldier set the standard for Daredevil to challenge last season, and good. Well-choreographed, believable fights are refreshing in live-action comic book media after years of lacking. But Pattern 4 is rewarding, too, for the momentum building up between the protagonist and antagonist, moreso than the actual final battle.

1 and 6. I honestly love all of them, but for me you just can't beat a well made battle of raw power.

this is classic pattern 3 to me. Of course there are a lot of skills and impressive stuff in it, but its simplicity and pursuing of finishing punch as fast as you can with the regular punches, stabs and kicks is a real sign of number 3.
