Fans and critics complained about (Infinity War spoilers)

I want to address a certain amount of hypocrisy regarding deaths in these films and future ressurections. So Superman died in two movies and we knew he was coming back three movies later in JL. While I agree the death of superman should have been it's own movie, the whining about killing him so early (regardless of cinematic plans) was incessant. Roughly, Spider-Man and Black Panther have had the same amount of screen time as Superman and they are coming back in two movies. What's the deal? Is it personal bias (DC vs Marvel) or something else?

Because the way they crammed like 3 story lines into one movie in bvs was terrible. The death of Superman was pretty big back when it happened, it probably should have been its own movie. But nope they crammed it into a mediocre movie at the end.

Superman's death should have been far more emotional and impactful, Superman deserves better than to be a pointless shock death.

I fully agree with OP. I myself wasn't that big a fan of the way Superman's death was handled either, but I don't see how it is any different from how Spider-Man and Black Panther died. If you complain about one, you should be just as upset with the other.

@santiagomormon: well if it's because of storylines, infinity war was based on both infinity gauntlet and infinity.

@army2442: i do agree. I wish the death of superman was it's own movie but I wouldn't say I was exactly shocked at his death. When I saw doomsday was involved it did get me thinking that it might happen. Which is why who ever cut the trailer that showed doomsday should be fired. Should have been a surprise.

Because nobody cared about edgy superman.

People like Spiderman, because he's fun.

People like Black panther because he's competent, and represents minorities.

The moment doomsday appeared, a vast majority of the audience knew that Superman would die. Then his resurrection was hinted a few minutes later.

Any comparison with IW is just not serious.
