I want to address a certain amount of hypocrisy regarding deaths in these films and future ressurections. So Superman died in two movies and we knew he was coming back three movies later in JL. While I agree the death of superman should have been it's own movie, the whining about killing him so early (regardless of cinematic plans) was incessant. Roughly, Spider-Man and Black Panther have had the same amount of screen time as Superman and they are coming back in two movies. What's the deal? Is it personal bias (DC vs Marvel) or something else?

of course its personal bias

if someone likes something they'll ignore it's similarities to something they don't like

Because the way they crammed like 3 story lines into one movie in bvs was terrible. The death of Superman was pretty big back when it happened, it probably should have been its own movie. But nope they crammed it into a mediocre movie at the end.

Superman's death should have been far more emotional and impactful, Superman deserves better than to be a pointless shock death.

This.

I fully agree with OP. I myself wasn't that big a fan of the way Superman's death was handled either, but I don't see how it is any different from how Spider-Man and Black Panther died. If you complain about one, you should be just as upset with the other.

@santiagomormon: well if it's because of storylines, infinity war was based on both infinity gauntlet and infinity.

@army2442: i do agree. I wish the death of superman was it's own movie but I wouldn't say I was exactly shocked at his death. When I saw doomsday was involved it did get me thinking that it might happen. Which is why who ever cut the trailer that showed doomsday should be fired. Should have been a surprise.

Because nobody cared about edgy superman.

People like Spiderman, because he's fun.

People like Black panther because he's competent, and represents minorities.

Pretty much, what other reason could it possibly even be? They're all fictional characters.

Same reason why people hate Lex Luthor in BVS yet praise Zemo in Civil War.

Stop whining. No one likes your shitty DCEU movies or characters. Get over it.

But you're whining about me whining about whiners. Think about that.

Well it's fair to feel that way but like I said he had roughly the same amount of screen time.

If a good person has a flaw. It’s not so bad

Bad person having another flaw. Is still bad.

BvS didn’t have much of anything good to mask its flaws

It all comes down to execution. Both were cheap moves if you really think about it.

Fair enough but if you didn't like the warehouse scene I'l assume you're crazy ;P

@heatforce: it is a great anime.

Yes it is. I'm almost caught up in the manga.

The moment doomsday appeared, a vast majority of the audience knew that Superman would die. Then his resurrection was hinted a few minutes later.

Any comparison with IW is just not serious.

These threads do nothing but stir the pot and incite vitriol between fanbases nowadays. What's the point?
