Dormammu I've Come to Bargain

So I was thinking about this part of 'Doctor Strange' the other day and I realized, maybe Doctor Strange in the future, so far in the future that Thanos is dead of old age. Strange from this future comes back to Pre Infinity War and asks Pre IW Strange for the Time Stone, saying "Strange, I've come to bargain". He then takes the Time Gem to the future where Thanos is dead of old age and keeps it. So Thanos doesn't get a hold of it in the first place, therefore there is no decimation.

Thoughts on this method of defeating Thanos?

Now thanos is just going to find another way(like the quantum realm thing) to travel to the future and repeat what he did in IW there.

Also, I’m pretty sure thanos would live longer than strange lol.

They'd have to beat Thanos first in Endgame, since Thanos would also use the time gem to keep himself healthy and young. It creates too many paradoxes, since without the time gem there is no Decimation but Strange is from a future with the Decimation.
