This respect thread is dedicated to Id's Doomguy. Specifically the canon lore of Id made games and the Comic for said games.
Doomguy, the Doom Marine, Doom Slayer, whatever the name the character is the same. A super badass Marine who kicks Hell's teeth in for laughs. Doomguy most of the time has the same story of a Marine who got in trouble for busting his superior officer's jaw, and sent to Mars as punishment. The Mars base itself was dabbling in portals to Hell, lost control, and Hell invades. Doomguy grabs the nearest weapon, and the rest is history. Doomguy is a beyond peak human being with the baddest weapons, and baddest gear you can find. In his adventures he also get more badass from the use of Hell's own buffs. Combine with the best of Earth Tech and Hell's supernatural powers, Doomguy marches knee deep in the dead of Hell's best every time.
Lets talk some simple stats for Doomguy himself. Doomguy is not stated super human at all, but he is proven to be. The man has conquered the impossible where whole armies failed, and its not due to skill alone. The man is packing superhuman stats.
To start this respect thread and look at the enemies of Doom games themselves. This is a the bio's of all the reoccurring foes in the 4 games and its expansions.
Some bio for Game 3.
Doomguy may be described as a human, but his feats and gear makes him anything but.
Without armor he has shown the super strength to break his steel shackles, and then one hand smashes to pieces a possesses head.
With Armor he can rip whole demons in half by hand.
Here Doomguy physical breaks the jaws of a Demon. Beings that are tough as gorillas, and shown time and again as physical powerhouses like in the above from Doom 3. Doomguy in this also overpowers and beats to death a Baron of Hell and those guy can be seen below how tough they are.
Cyber Manducas are very powerful beings. The normal ones alone can plow through multple thick steel pipes with their rhino like weight. The Cybernetic ones are even stronger and still Doomguy forces them to shoot themselves in the face in Glory Kills.
As seen with Revanants who waltz through the rifle .50 Cal fire in movie scenes, and have strength to rip limbs off Doomguy himself in death scenes, they still get crush against Doomguy's fury.
These Hell Guardian mini bosses are shown to merge from solid stone, with lava pouring on them. Doomguy smashes his fist through their armor hides fine.
Finally we have Doomguy kicking off the Cyber Demons own horn, and using said horn to explode the head of said Cyber Demon. Nuff said there.
Doomguy from Doom 1, Doom 2, Final Doom, Doom 64, and Doom 3 all have the Security and Combat Armor for durability only.
Meaning most feats for Doomguy is only helped by the armor, and most of it all Doomguy himself.
The original Doom game comic shows this durability. Doomguy here tanks a plasma fireball to the face with minor damage. These fireballs can one shot normal UAC Marines and Imps alike in Doom 3 games, and equivalant to Plasma shots in all 4 games.
Pincky's are Demons of tremendous strength in all the games. Describe as tough as gorillas, and in Doom 3 one can see a Pincky warp the steel security doors with its strength. Doomguy gets plowed by a Pinky Demon, and then falls several dozen feet into a foot deep of radioactive goo. Not only Doom guy tanks the blunt force of these attacks, but climbs out of the burning radioactive goo with only a minor bitch about the future of the environment while smoking.
Doomguy in all games can tank some serious energy damage. The Hell Portal explosion vaporizes the 3 other UAC Marines, but not Doomguy.
Doomguy get chomped on, and ragdoll by a demon whose very footsteps shake the ground. Not only is he fine, he surprises said super demon.
Doomguy has front row seat to a speeding monorail crashing head on with a wall. The damage of the crash is scene, but Doomguy walks away without a scratch.
This is just raw durability with the basic Security Armor in games 1-3. In the newest game, Doomguy's armor is reforge by combining the UAC armor with Hell itself to make the Praetor Armor.
In the new lore, the Doomguy came upon Hell denizen who took what Doomguy was packing, the UAC armor, and reforge it to be a suit of armor. The armor in turn was stated in both sources as near impenetrable, and having "adamantine" strength. These claims are supported too. As seen above, the Security armor was tough enough, but reforge allows for incredible durability.
Doomguy in a few game scene drops easy 5+ story free falls with no damage to the suit, or effort to himself.
Doomguy in this armor tanks powerful explosive forces with no damage in the several game scenes of dealing with the demonic power sources.
Doomguy here shows a few durability feats by being squeezed by a Cyber Demon, rag doll, then thrown. These Demons pack the strength of a hydraulic press, but no damage to Doomguy.
These Barons of Hell are insane tough and strong. Stated as tough as dump trucks and meanest thing since T-Rex. They dismember from strength alone UAC armor fine. The Praetor armor was shown taking the momentum back blow of said demon with little damage fine. The death scene also showed the Baron requiring effort just to finish of Doomguy, as testament to the Praetor Armor which already tank multiple attacks before this in the game trailer movie.
Just like the rest of the stats, Doomguy is pretty damn fast for a human, and the new game shows this off more than ever.
The game comic for Doom 2 alone shows the ability of Doomguy able to dodge through multiple projectile attacks, each with a small AOE no less, with a sense of agility and speed while accurately one shotting Cacodemons with return fire.
While can be argued Game Mechanics, its the only consistent speed we have for older games to measure. Doomguy is able to move at super speed sprints to outrun 30 MPH missiles. The new game however really support the first game mechanics with cinematic proof of speed.
Doomguy speed in the newer games shows in the Glory Kills. In these cinematic scenes, we see clearly that from a distance 10 feet can get closed in a blur rush of clear super speed. Consistent with the speed mechanics of older games.
More game scenes of Doomguy's speed at dodging fast speed projectiles like Lost Souls, plasma, and missiles with skill and reaction. These feats also show accuracy on Doomguys part.
Another non game play, first person cinematic scene of Doomguy's reaction speed and skill to clear out a host of demons with ease.
Now we gotten through the stats, bios, and all the good stuff, lets discuss the real deal of what Doomguy a a character is famous for. The toys! So many glorious toys! Let me go ahead and post down the list the reoccurring toys seen most.
The Chain Saw is a powerful close combat weapons made with special materials to help cut through anything, while remaining sharp. Able to slice with ease the durability of Hell Knights, and take out three possessed marine with a single strike one handed.
What can be said? The Shotgun in all the games is a powerful weapon that can be made more dangerous with Explosive Shot or Charge Blast upgrades.
As seen the Super Shotgun, and even the normal Shotgun in last gif can blow apart imps to pieces with ease under its own raw power.
The Chain Gun is a powerful crew serve weapon that fire mach 3 projectiles of armor piercing goodness.
Able to swiss cheese all forms of demons.
While new to later game installments, the Assault Rifle is a powerful weapon in all the games. Not much is known about it in Doom 3, but Doom 2016 states its a .50 CAL weapon, with upgrades for Missiles and scopes.
Just as the name suggest, this weapons uses powerful Plasma energy which packs super heat of "plasma" levels as well some decent kinetic force of a bullet for a powerful rapid fire weapon. The new game grants upgrades for a stun blast, as well as a wall of super heat in blast form.
The Plasma of this weapon as seen can fry Cacodemons in one shot. Punch holes with a single shot through cybernetic Hell Knights.
The staple of Doomguy. When all else fails, use the Rocket Launcher. High damage, splash damage, automatic action, what else needs to be said?
One shot can clear a room of Hell Knights even.
Big Fucking Gun. The ultimate weapon in all Doom games. A super plasma blast happy weapon that decimates all foes.
Takes out a room full of minor demons. One shots a Baron of Hell from game trailer scene. Canoes the Spider Master Mind when all other weapon fail to make a dent. One Shots the Cyber Demon of the original games.
The Specific weapon of the Doom 3 games. While not much is known, it is a super weapon made by the most advance civilization in the Doom games. Civilization that mastered teleportation, creating elements, molecule manipulation, and even understand the nature of using souls as a power source. This weapon was the pinnacle of their creation. Indestructible, weightless, made of matter not understood by even the UAC, and powered by Soul energy. Able to take down a Cyber Demon with ease.
Power Ups and Gear
If weapons you think all Doomguy uses, your cray cray. He also comes with a host of power ups, in the form of medical supplies or demonic energy containers called Spheres.
All Doom games have simple man made medical gear that replenishes health and damage in the field. Berserk itself fully replenishes health, and grants super strength on Doomguy's already impressive super strength.
Spheres are the common power ups in the Doom games. Most of them are self explanatory. Soul Spheres, Mega Spheres, Health Potions, and Argent Energy all heal Doomguy with their magical energy. Blur Spheres and invisibility do the same thing of cloaking Doomguy. Quad Damage increase all damage potential by 4x. Haste increases even further speed. Invulnerability grants immortality to all damage.
Heart of Hell
Heart of Hell is a artifact in Doom 3 which allows Doomguy to combine the powers of Haste, Invulnerability, and Berserk at the same time.
Haste is the power up of this Hunter Demon, and as seen the speed is pretty significant. In game play the world slows down around you while you move at normal speeds. Noticeable effect.
If the BFG is the ultimate weapon, this is the ultimate power up. Several dozen seconds of immunity to damage. Shows Doomguy himself with glowing white eyes of power when in effect, and this Hunter Demon who is immune to all attacks Doomguy throws at him.
A interesting power up that exists as a medical supply in the original, but same effect through all the games. This power up grants a bloodlust backed by a large super increase in strength. As seen with the Hunter Demon using Berserk. to shred multiple inches of steel security door easy.
Seen here, Imps can rend steel doors, and posses great strength, but Doomguy himself is able to bare hand one punch Imps on Berserk, and blow through the feet thick metal walls.
Some of the other common gear througout the games. Backpack being a main one, as the Back packs in Games 1-3 allow for carrying more ammo. Always good to carry more ammo.
The Doom Story
To end this respect thread, let me post the story of the original Id Doomguy from Doom 1, Doom 2, Final Doom, and Doom 64 games.
This is the whole canon story of Doom 1,2, and Final Doom. The Doom Marine of legend fighting the enemies of hell by the thousands on Mars, Earth, and Hell itself. Where armies of earth fall within minuets, Doomguy by himself prevails. Taking down even beings as large as Sin itself. In the end Doomguy stays in Hell and makes sure to cull its population for all time with anger and joy that only Doomguy can show.
Doom 3 Story is a true alternate universe of the same events in a more realistic fashion, but with Doom 4 out we have the story of Doom Slayer, who greatly resembles the original Doomguy, mirroring events and the demons of the first three games near 100%.
Even going as far to pay homage of to the original game. Doom 2016 has TONS of Easter Eggs of Doom 1 and 2.
One can say, its a possible connection of the past Doom lore.
With all this said, I hope many have a better understanding of Id's Doomguy for future debates, or if someone needs a feat to throw out, look here first. Anyone with additional feats can go ahead and post them below. Adding one is always helpful as Id's game characters and lore continues to march on for future games of awesome badass demon slaying fun.
