It seems that every other Avenger or MCU hero has their share of low showings/anti-feats. Out of all of them, I feel like Cap has been shown the most love and can’t remember a moment of him jobbing or looking inconsistent.

What do you guys think?

Yes. In Avengers 1 he struggled with a single brainwashed SHIELD grunt, Iron Man had to save him.

In one comic, I can't find it now, but while dealing with a group of fodder one of them hits him with their gun in the back of the head.

Although it probably wasn't intentional, in Civil War there's a very brief scene in a background shot of Lagos where we see Steve fighting a mercenary, and the fodder is pushing him back.

Don't have time to find the panel for the former and the timestamp for the latter, but those are the three occasions off the top of my head in which Steve underperformed.

Yes. They're are actually several low showings or things that he did that he should have done more easily.

@mr_shazam0920: Yeah. I could be ignoring context though, but it seemed like Steve should've been able to take him down with little difficulty.

Okay I'll admit that one or two feats that I thought were low showings aren't really when I went back over them.

Anyways here he struggles to bend a metal bar.

Here he struggles somewhat with a large shelf.

In this instance he grits his teeth and grunts due to the effort of lifting a man over his shoulders.

Here he is knocked out or severely dazed by a punch from Bucky combined with a fall.

Not a low showing of Steve's but here Bucky is knocked out by his head hitting glass in a fall.

Back to Steve, though its hard to notice if you look on the left side he struggles with a random fodder dude.

Here in the Captain America First Vengeance comic book Steve is tagged by fodder and it seems to hurt somewhat.

Though admittedly that may be story based as the comic immediately flashes back to him being beaten up as a kid in a very similar way before coming back to that fight scene. And when it goes back to the present day of the comic Steve wrecks everyone.

I think these low showing are just his base strength, not what I would call low showing.

Wolverine was also overpowered by a random soldier in X-men 2.

You can't be in 5 movies and not have low showings.

@amcu: I’m not sure if I would classify all of those as low showings, though.

@amcu: Anyways here he struggles to bend a metal bar.

Why should not he?He has enhanced/low level superhuman strength, but it does not mean that he should bend durable metal without struggle.

Here he is knocked out or severely dazed by a punch from Bucky combined with a fall.

He was pushed through steel door.

Compared to his high showings they are.

He's ripped apart Ultron bots who are way more durable than regular metal and massively thicker than that bar.

None of the low showings I mentioned are enough to contradict his high showings but at the same time they are definitely low showings compared to them.

@amcu: Yes, that’s what I’m really saying. Those “low showings” don’t really contradict his power level. Yes, he has crazy high end feats, but his low showings are still super human level.

His low showings may be superhuman but high showings are WAY better. Struggling with things that are like less than a tenth of what you are capable of doing is a low showing. And some of his high showings were effortless.

A mercenary had him captured at gunpoint on the boat at the start of The Winter Soldier but he was saved when Crossbones parachuted in to the rescue.

@alphaq: he could not let the mercenary shoot and make noise, but he wasn't really worried either. Remember, it was a stealth mission and his suit was confirmed bulletproof. That combined with his natural durability would mean he'd get minor injuries at worst. Blocking bullets with the shield would be heard across the ship. Rumlow was supposed to give support with a silent bullet against anyone Cap didn't get. It wasn't a lucky save, they planned out everything, which is why Black Widow doing her own thing was a big deal.
