Does it matter if Joker is much older than Batman?

Random question. Sometimes I see people complaining about the idea of a 30 year old Batman fighting a 60-70 year old Joker. But something about Joker seems appropriate that he would be older.

As far as I’m concerned it doesn’t matter how old either of them are, Batman or Joker, what does matter is the quality of the writing.

I always preferred them to be around the same age, since as Ledger's Joker said, they are destined to do this forever.

Although if he were 10 years older or younger it would be acceptable but I think it is best if they are around the same age due to Batman having to case down the Joker and occasionally fight or beat him up.
