What do you mean? Are we talking build or height? Because if it's the latter, MCU T'Challa is the exact same height as his 616 counterpart.

As for build, he's alright.

T’Challa is muscular but lithe, like a jungle cat.

Nah he's good. Jordan looking beefy probably serves the purpose of making him appear more threatening.

No, he's the same height as Chris Evans. He's not nearly as buff, but it kind of suits Panther's agility.

He seems ga good fit.

Killmonger in the comics is also tons bigger and buffer than T'Challa. I mean in theory Jordan is way to small for the character you would need some really gigantic musclebound actor to even hint at the size difference in comics.

He's fine. Character build aside, Chadwick would be hard pressed to match up to Michael B. Jordan physically in the first place

@ganon15: If he were that big it would look weird. That's how animation and comic books write superheroes.

I mean you want to see Thor this sized?

No Caption Provided

That doesn't work in live action. Steve, T'Challa and Thor are all fine.

He's perfect.

T'Challa's not supposed to be as big and buff as Captain America, he's just very lean and extremely muscular, which is exactly what Boseman is.

@mickey-mouse: There is nothing wrong with him now? Personality wise he's just like the comic counterpart, he's supposed to be chill and reserved. Just wish they made him smart too. I wanna see his energy daggers in the next film

Looks exactly the same even in Black Panther. Maybe it's the tiny amount of fat he had in CW because in his own movie he was more toned.

He was alright. He just needs to be more like Russos wrote him rather than BP crew...

Avatar image for king_krown

@adamtrmm: I'm good on that. Some of you all just want him to do cool stuff & say very little. That isn't strong character.

That said,Who ever did the action/choreography for CW/WS needs to do it for BP as well. His solo movie had weak fights. His character was fine.

Avatar image for adamtrmm

@king_krown:

Eh I thought Coogler spent too much time developing all the side characters instead of developing Black Panther as eponymous king, with all the presence, prowess and stature, first and foremost. It felt like to evaluate them, T'Challa was undermined. It's not about a strong supporting cast, it's about the main one feeling less because of them.

The whole setting of action and SFX/CGI was heavily mishandled if you ask me. And that's considering Feige saying that BP cost more than CW >_>

@epicyon: No in the comics I’ve read BP still has an ego and although he isn’t boosterish about it, he can be cocky. Baseman was way too reserved for my tastes.

He also acts like a dumb brute. His sister did all of the scientific things that he didn't understand, and he needed her tech to do his job. He got saved, twice, in his own movie. Hell he only beat Killmonger in the end with the help of his allies.

Take away his sister. Let T'Challa come into his own. The support cast took up way too much screen time in Black Panther.

No, because he is not supposed to look like a Norse God... he's the Black Panther and genuinely tries to emulate that animal and as such focus' more on agility rather than brute strength, which is M'Baku's thing.

@epicyon: @jedixman: That too, I didn’t mind husband sister helping him, but he should have a Scientific background and a grasp of technology and strategy. The ending reminded me too much of one of the annoying Flash episodes where he needs a pep talk to win. Everyone needs help, but he hold a character’s development by constantly giving them helpful buds to bail them out.

Boseman always looks like he just smelt a fart.

The guy who played Black Manta in Aquaman should have been Black Panther.

It was pretty reminiscent of a Flash episode, you're right. Especially with him talking to somebody over the radio.

Imagine if, instead of Shuri and co finding T'Challa at the border tribe, we saw T'Challa at death's door clawing his way to the tribe under his own power, while communing with his father and his ancestors for strength. A sort of spirit journey to earn the mantle of king and Black Panther. HE could have been the one to convince the border tribe to fight with him. Shuri can still have the herb, but this way it would be T'Challa winning back his kingdom through leadership and political maneuvering. Then he can win over Okoye (the only side character who I didn't mind).

It would have felt more earned than a dumb reveal; the cheap "death" was meaningless - the TITLE CHARACTER isn't going to die.
