Other thought. 8%

First, I am not talking about VR.

We only see things through characters vision, do you think this kind of superhero movie works?

Maybe. But not being able to see the hero would be the problem

@darkthunder:

The camera doesn't need always stick to hero's eye, it could go other characters vision in some scenes.

Josh Trank's "Chronicle " kind of did this already.

It really depends on how the movie was set up.

While it's an idea that's actually rather interesting, movies that rely too much on something like this are not something I'm so crazy about. I like the whole "shaky camera" thing in smaller doses.

I was actually just thinking about this the other day. Not in relation to superheroes, though.

It might give some people motion sickness.

But for me it was the best two minutes of the Doom movie.

@tethadam: Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield, Chronicle. Mainly horror films use that filming method due to how cheap it is.

@christianrapper:

That’s not superhero movie.

And I’m talking about high budget like MCU or DCEU movies.

@tethadam: Maze Runner isn't a First Person/Found Footage film. It's a pretty high budget fancy camera fest.

Some teen movies use the first person perspective, but I can't think of many good ones. The best ones are the ones that acknowledge the fact a camera is their and integrate it into the plot.

@tethadam: The Villianess. It’s not first person the whole time, but South Korea just does fighting choreography better man.

Chronicle is pretty close, but even then, it's not 100% from Andrew's POV. Hardcore Henry is strictly 1st person, but it's technically not a "superhero" movie , even though Henry is a beast and a cyborg.

I'd say this is best left for short VR experiences or games. 2 hours of being Spider-Man would cause motion sickness, I don't care who you are. Maybe with the right hero it could be good, but it's too gimmicky. Plus I want to see heroes kicking ass, looking cool. You lose that perspective in first person.

A first person perspective which actually be better served as a single epic scene, it would help the movie stand out and be interesting.

Like that russian action movie. Ugh, I'm still not over the fact that that idea was wasted on a movie that had no intention of being more than a videogame you can't actually play.

Generally it will fail with well known heroes because we actually want to see them and with streetlevelers it would probably make hand-to-hand scenes fairly unbearable, although used sparringly in a fight scene first person could work to enhance immersion if the switch is not to jarring.

I think maybe a Deadman movie fully in first person could work with him being fairly bodyless and literally going into and possessing people.

nothing really fun about it. Even a shaky cam is a problem in movies like those let alone fps. It would be completely messed up
