@rogueshadow said it best. I'd quote him if I wasn't on mobile.

The Avengers are more relevant than ever before, the X-Men become gradually less and less relevant everytime Fox cranks out another mediocre movie.

@supermanthor: I was under the impression that The Avengers were more popular long before the movie came out.

In 2012 the Avengers got the push they needed to be above the other teams.

@mrmonster: The x men getting less popular has nothing to do with their movies. They're comics have been lacking for years and their message is slowly becoming not as relevant it's 2018 where discrimination still exist but with then latest generation taking over its becoming more and more the minority.

Doesn't help that the whole mutants vs the world thing is stale now and there's not much left they can do with it because the concept honestly doesn't make sense any more.

Sure the movies aren't helping but X men movies were never a reason the books were selling. Tbh the X men ran past their prime before last stand came out ( AKA the first bad X men movie)

I'd say the X-Men was its flagship team up until the 90s and maybe the early 00s. After that, with the whole rights thing and Marvel pushing the Avengers more, things changed.

Avengers took over in mid to late 2000's.

Avengers took X-Men place after Disney force it. It's difficult to remain the flag ship when avengers gets all the merchandise money.

With the Disney/Fox deal the X-Men will probably take their spot back.

The X-Men have been going downhill since the 90s, whereas the Avengers WERE the Flagship from the 1960s to the 1970s. Now they're merely reclaiming their place.

The Avengers have always been more important/central to the MU, the X-men were just more popular

The Avengers took over way before the movie, due to the X-Universe becoming a hard-to-follow mess. Having Wolverine in 37 titles every month didn't help.

Dark Knight's overrated too. But the only reason Logan got that Oscar nod was because the Academy felt they owed Jackman some kind of recognition for 17 years as Logan and there weren't many entries for Adapted Screenplay so they could tolerate it being in there.

@samhmd1: In other words: baseless speculation. Especially, when most people didn’t know that this was Hugh Jackman’s final role as Wolverine given that people have question why he is not in Dark Phoenix.

Most everyone knew it was his last time, it was obvious.

@marlboroman: 90% of Logan is just "The Wolverine" again. Not so shocking since its written and directed by the same guy.

Even in the comics, Marvel had a period where they gave up on X-Men and appeared to be actively tying to push interest away from them.

Wolverine is written by different people. They just have the same director and directional wise Wolverine had no issues the problem was the written plot and it's supporting cast. But even it's same director there are massive differences between the two movies ambition and effort levels.

A generic Western? Maybe if you were ashamed of comics.

@samhmd1: So why are there so many comments on the Dark Phoenix trailer on YouTube about where is Wolverine? The general audience is not going to think that Jackman is done after his a cameo in Deadpool 2.
