Poll Did you like MCU Ultron (88 votes)
I actually really liked the MCU ultron. He was a bad version of Tony stark so the quips made sense and I don't think he actually died so he could return. What did you guys think of ultron

He was a good villain. Kinda wish he was a little more ruthless, but he's underrated
'Meh.' He was vastly inferior to his comic counter part on pretty much every level, but he wasn't the worst villain we've seen by a long shot either. He was definitely sub-par, but wouldn't say he was 'bad.'
He was garbage honestly. When I first found out he was going to be the villain in Avengers 2, I thought he would this ruthless, menacing, and psychotic Megatron-type beating the shit out of all the Avengers. Instead, we got this robot who couldn't decide if he wanted to be evil, or a robot with daddy issues, or a "villain" so soft to the point where you can consider sharing a beer with him.
I liked how he looked and his motivations, personality was alright, but I thought he was too funny and quippy.

He wasn't like the joker or daredevil, as there was a reason for their upbeat acts in evil. Ultron probably needed an increase in the creepy factor and not compassionate to a degree factor.
I really liked James Spader's performance but I guess it was slightly disappointing when compared to how he was initially presented in the first trailer. Still he at least had more characterization than many other cbm villains.

He wasn't my ideal Ultron but for the context of the MCU he was good. Honestly what really bogged him down was that there was too much going on, you had Vision, and the twins AOU would have benefited greatly from either an extended run time or just make 2 films, 1 that focused on the rise of Ultron and the Avengers combating and eventually converting the twins to their side, and the other being the birth of the Vision and the defeat of Ultron. Not only would that have allowed a bigger presence for Ultron it would have helped to flesh out Vision, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and given plenty of screen time to the Avengers.
Which really just brings up the flaw of Superhero movies and comic book movies in general. They're suppose to be serialized so when you try to shove an entire story into 2 hours you're losing out on something which is why TV is the best medium (minus the budget) for adaptations.
@king_nomarch: lol
He started out great... then got annoying af

This. My only real problem with him was that he never won a single fight.
Honestly MCU Ultron is a fantastic example of what happens when you have non-comic book fans attempt to write for a comic book character.
Joss whedon has wrote multiple xmen/marvel comics.
@chris-sama: Then he just seems like a shitty writer.
Marvel didnt give him a lot of control. He's said it multiple times, thats why he's done with marvel. I'd imagine his vision of ultron would be a lot more cold, brutal.
He sucked due to them trying to make him funny like almost any every marvel villain, which DOESN'T work with a cold, emotionless killing machine.
Ultron's such easy character to write- he hates organic lifeforms because he views them as inferior, and he is rational and brutal at the same time. He's supposed to be all of the worst parts of mankind formed into one featureless being that hates because that's his nature.
I thought he was okay overall, just very disappointing. Wish they hadn’t made him funny, that ruined a lot of his scenes and lines for me.
