@rbt: Isnt a black hole a piece of space with high gravitational pull.

Yes he did. You can see debris being pulled towards the portal.

No. Its not space. Its matter. The closest thing to a portal in real life science would be a wormhole.

Yes, you can see him using the space gem to pull together all the flying debrie around him and concentrate them in the spot where the black orb forms so it could be a mini black hole.

I doubt it. Things being pulled into it can just be because it is a portal leading to the vacuum of space, it doesn't have to be a black hole. Maybe it was a portal to a black hole, but I seriously doubt he just created a black hole there. Strange would have been pulled into it immediately.

No, because it only sucked in dusk and smoke, a black hole would have sucked them all in.

Avatar image for gateofbabylon

I think it was condensed space or something. I'm no physicist but my best guess he created a temporary mini black hole to suck in all space to form a dense singularity/ball of space and matter.

Na. A powerful singularity and/or vortex, but not a legit black hole.

They're usually artists interpretations, we can't actually see Black Holes since light can't escape from them.

I meant more in a general and fictional sense, i.e. some sort of condensing of space rather than an actual gravitational singularity.

This.

The only people who know are the directors.

However, I will say that this particular void was created through unconventional means. So it is both possible that it is a mini black hole or a portal.

Looked like some sort of vortex attack. Maybe he was trying to teleport Strange away? There's no hard evidence it's a black hole, though.

The Infinity Vortex is just a vortex made up of all the compressed matter in the vicinity turned into plasma, it grow as it eat anything in its path turning matter into energy. It's similar to a black hole in that regard. It could've been bigger if Thanos had spent more time loading it with more matter, boy I'd love to see a bigger one! Since the Blu ray is out today, could you do a HD version of the gif pretty please?
