Well, Hax is basically what is described as an unfair advantage. Speaking in terms of the battle boards here, it is usually that one or so ability of a character that gives them a huge advantage over others. Of course, this is all subjective.

There are many characters that fit this description, but specific examples that comes to mind are: Fantomex, Midnighter, Zoom, Scarlet witch (depending on the writer).

It's essentially When someone has an unfair advantage over you. Like, by a ludicrous amount. Or abilities that make the user almost unbeatable.

Examples: Infinity Gauntlet, Omnipotence, Deadpool-level Regeneration.

I'd say a hax ability is typically when you need to have gone up against that exact ability (or a really close variation) to have any hope of actually countering it. It's made hax because the ability itself isn't seen often, and as such, there aren't many characters who actually have counters for it. For example, kamui is considered hax because very few characters can actually counter spacial dismemberment. Because of this, it allows Kakashi to take on characters outside his league, since he has an 'unanswerable' move in his back pocket.

Basically, if an ability is ridiculously hard to counter (telepathy is a prominent one), then it can generally be considered hax. An unfair advantage that offers very few avenues of escape for characters who haven't really faced that specific ability before.

Take DSS for example. He could beat people way more destructive than him. Why? Because he always regenerates while at the same time could use molecule manipulation against you and beat you rather easily. Hax is just versatility in other words.

Basically this. Well said. For example if Wolverine faces against someone who is equal to him in every way, then you can't use the term hax. But if said opponent is equal to him and also has invisibility, then that's an unfair advantage, AKA too hax.

An ability so hard to counter it can be considered 'cheating.'

An OP advantage in a fight that otherwise that character would lose because everything else is stacked against them. Someone Like Thor could wreck a character named "Oz" but OZ has access to a scythe that can apparently wipe anything out of existence(Anime character of course) and without it he'd get ROLFstomped by someone like Thor.

Stuff that isn't punching or energy blast, it seems. Basically, anything that bricks can't tank or beat.

Everything itachi uchiha does in fact half the abilities in naruto or most anime. It's the reason comics vs anime is so awklward like superman can move planets but telepathic bill can seal anyone in his pocket who'll win it's just dumb.

I define it as the ability for a character to essentially be able to do plot device type things whenever they need to. No clear definition of what they can or cannot do with their powers/magic which means a writer can just have them do almost anything and it comes off as semi believable.

"Hax" is really just a catch-all term for any ability that can't be countered by just being really, really tough. Abilities that deal damage in alternate ways than raw force or defensive abilities that don't just attempt to block something with force.

So abilities like telepathy, teleporting someone's head off their body, destroying someone on the molecular level, or just turning someone into a goat are all abilities that can be called hax.

Real life examples would be things like poison, acid, or radiation. Things that damage objects without factoring in the object's resilience to force acting on it.

Copying a post I made months ago:

I've always thought of it as abilities that "break the rules" and have their own rules an opponent is forced to play by if they're able to play at all. Stuff I would consider Hax is something like Mirror Master and Shiny objects and his mirror world in general. Or Silver Surfer's full powerset being pretty much whatever he wants to do. Or Firestorm's full powerset.

Usually it involves an ability for which there is no or little defense against it. A lot of magic qualifies as hax, as does telepathy sometimes. Lelouch's and other Geass users from Code Geass can be said to have hax abilities because there's no defense against the ability. There's also stuff like that in Naruto.

Hax abilities are usually glass cannons, though.

Hax are powers and abilities that either bypass durability or negate any form of attack.
