Hello Comicvine friends, we got some confirmation for what many of us already suspected.. DCEU Superman is weak to magic.

Not only weak to magic, but it’s a greater weakness than even Kryptonite.

Good travel speed statement for Supes and BA also.

Break down how you think this changes things, or alternatively how you think it changes nothing.

Excited to here your takes good friends.

Ye travel speed(below Captain Marvel).. neat huh.

And the Rock hasn’t steered me wrong yet... if you don’t want to use actor statments that’s fine, I hope you can respect others do…. Also many of us have suspected Kryptonians have a magic weakness, this just confirms on screen showings.

Makes sense. Superman's vulnerability to magic was recently retconned to weakness in comics. So Rock certainly reads his comics.

And people think Thor's measly lightning tags super-jesus smh.

Anyway, I've never been okay with Diana's sword being nuke level. So this doesn't bug me

Why is Dwayne's statement "confirmation"?

Where does it imply the DCEU?

He's right. The Rock really read the comics but some DCEU fanboys on CV denied it. The fact is:

  • Diana with her magical sword >>>> DCEU Superman
  • MCU Thor with the magical enhanced Mjolnir/Stormbreaker >>>> DCEU Superman
  • DCEU Shazam & Black Adam magical powers >>>> DCEU Superman
  • MCU Dr Strange & Scarlet Witch magical powers >>>> DCEU Superman
  • DCEU Dr Fate magical powers >>>> DCEU Superman

Pretty sure he speaks in general and not about DCEU, unless, of course, light-speed DCEU Supes confirmed.

That's not a confirmation. He's fanboying Black Adam. And he probably read the comics and thought it applies to the cinematic universe.

This is it s the tweet he responded to, it’s DCEU.

——

It’s a actor statement, some people take those more seriously than others, still relevant as a secondary source, some of us have always thought this based on onscreen feats… imo this is backed by onscreen showings, like dianas magic krypto busting sword.(I never though it was just especially hard and sharp, it’s been confirmed magical for a while.)

Yes LS flight speed.(Travel)

Aaaand it sounds even more like Rock been Rock simply hyping up his character than confirming anything officially.

Guidebook says his reactions are equal to his speed, so yeah, light speed battle reactions confirmed as well? Kinda explains how he could to keep up for a bit with faster than light Snydercut Flash, but yeah...

I kinda pictured them more moderate in WoDC.

@sanohibiki:

I don’t think that says he can react as fast as can fly.. looks like he can control his flight path while flying as fast as he has flown… not exactly the same as throwing 10,000 LS punches in a instant, seems like he can avoid flying into stuff tho.

Resistance to magic? When? I thought that DD clearly showed a non resistance to magic when Diana cut off his arm.

Rock says weakness.. he says it’s a bigger weakness than even kryptonite.

This is just a secondary source confirming what many of us already thought… Rock doesn’t run the DCEU, but he’s closer to the movie than we are so I’d take his word over ours.

@death4bunnies: Superman overcame the lasso of truth. And stop picking and choosing when you want to use statements for proof.

Where’s this energy when people say EG Thor is his strongest form? Because you know, the Russo’s confirmed and they actually directed both IW & EG.

The Rock hasn’t done a single thing that involves DCEU Superman yet. When he actually faces DCEU Superman then he’ll have a leg to stand on but as of now, this is just talk.

I think EG Thor is prime.. I’ve been very clear about that.. if you want I can link you to a thread where I went back and forth with Nasser 20 comments deep.

https://comicvine.gamespot.com/forums/gen-discussion-1/how-do-people-legitimately-believe-that-eg-thor-is-2238138/

Here you go.. take a look at the comments…I’ve always accepted EG Thor as prime. .. so no hypocrisy here bruv.

—-

Superman didn’t overcome the lasso of truth.. he didn’t lie when it got him, and that’s all it does is make you tell the truth.

DD still got his durability negged by a magic sword, this has been clear to many of us for a long time, nice to have a secondary source confirmation.

The rock is just a secondary source confirmimg what many of us already knew, Kryptonians are weak to magic… weaker to magic than Kryptonite it seems.

If we took Actor statements seriously, Brie Larson's captain marvel would put post crisis Superman to shame, with the claim she could move planets.

And every DCEU Vs MCU thread will be locked with the Cap marvel one shots.

You don’t think Diana’s magic sword vs DD showed a weakness to magic? It’s a confirmed magical sword.. I’ve never really thought it was just especially hard and sharp.. a lot of people think that feat already showed a magical weakness.. imo this just give a bit more weight to that thought.

Fair enough.. tho her sword has been confirmed magic here.. magical weakness would explain how it so easily affected DD… who I think is above boulders and cars.

I prefer hear confirmation from either the Director/writers/actor (Cavill). Unless I’ve missed something, there’s nothing yet to indicate DCEU Clark has any vulnerability to magic. I am glad to see Rock is somewhat familiar with the source material tho

I’d just say it’s a secondary source confirming what many already thought when WWs magic sword cut DDs arm off.

Same race, and DD is a enhanced kryptonian.. I think her chopping off DDs arm is definitely a indication that she could do the same to Superman.

DD has durability better feats than Clark (tanked bigger bullets, and tanked the nuke better) so it’s already cut his better by feats and intent.

I'm pretty sure he was talking generally as in comics, but he's wrong anyway - Superman's weakness is Kryptonite not magic, he's just not immune to it. He's beaten plenty of magic users, but i like the fighting talk!

In the DCEU he hasn't shown weakness to magic either, he has magic resistance feats, so no not confirmation.

It’s DCEU not comics.. see post 12 he’s responding to a question about DCEU… what Superman has done in the comics has no baring here.

DD was cut by a magic sword.. and I don’t think he’s ever resisted magic.

Well some people still use WOG(not that this is exactly WOG) especially when it’s backed(or a interpretation of) onscreen feats.

I hope you can respect that.

(PS Bradley is not director, she’s executive producer and head writer of what if)
