@uugieboogie: I have doubts about a JL sequel ever coming to fruition. I think they're going to focus on solo adventures more.

I think I’ve seen that in an article or something somewhere. Well they have seem to have found their footings with solo films, hopefully they can continue the stride and eventually make another Justice League or team movie later down the line.

Currently no but they are also not immune to magic/god level weaponry as Diana’s sword showed.

Superman and Doomsday are not weak to magic, they are vulnerable to magical effects just like any character that isn't explicitly immune to magic. There is a very large difference between the two.

The sword being magical isn't why it can cut Doomsday. The sword's magical properties specifically being to make it better at cutting is what makes it able to cut Doomsday, just like how Wonder Woman sliced that car in half. The car didn't have a weakness to magic, the sword is just strong and sharp enough to cut through it.

Steppenwolf's armor not being cut by it just means Steppenwolf's armor is more durable than Doomsday's skin. This is hardly a surprise given Steppenwolf is a near-Kryptonian level being. It makes sense that any armor his kind would forge would be a significant step up in durability from their bare flesh. Just like normal humans don't use tissue paper for armor.

Basically just assume Wonder Woman's sword is enchanted with +10 Sharpness, making it able to harm Kryptonians who have natural armor of +5. Steppenwolf's armor just has +15 armor rating, making it able to resist her sword slashes. Arthur's trident has +20 piercing though, and can pierce said armor.

I know this a really old post. But nice explanation! I’ve been trying to say the same thing about Aquaman‘s armor and other atlantean armor.

While I do think there is a very good possibility that this was the intent, there's really no evidence either way, so the burden of proof is on whoever wants to prove they are vulnerable to magic. You can't prove a negative.

And thus far, in this universe, I don't think there's any real reason/evidence to assume/support it being the case. Best to go with the simplest explanation based on the evidence at hand; Diana cut Doomsday because the sword was that sharp, Steppenwolf withstood it because his armour is just that strong and resistant.

I'm also still not sure where the "Sword of Athena" name comes from. I've never been able to find it in any official source.

So far no kryptonian has shown any weakness to magic. Lasso didnt work either when it was fully capable of using its magic on people etc.

I always took that scene in JL where Superman resists the lasso to mean that he has some degree of resistance to magic

Everyone is vulnerable. It's magic. You'd have to prove that Kryptonians have resistance to magic, not the other way around.

The sword is significantly stronger and can cut better because of its nature. It doesn’t use magic to cut.

people always say Superman is weak to magic as if he'd fall into a fetal position at the very presence of magic like he would against kryptonite. It's not the same thing

Nope. There is no evidence to support this so far. In fact, DCEU Superman has actually resisted and known and verified magical weapon, The Lasso of Hestia, when he cut Diana off mid-sentence. So there you have it, a legit magical resistance feat.

Secondly, just because Diana's sword cut Doomsday, it doesn't automatically mean it will cut Superman.

No he has no feats against this.

And do not try with this Motherbox's s*** ! The fact this magic revived him doesn't grant him magic immunity. Majority of Motherboxes absorbed advanced machinery of Cyborg.

Btw DCEU died long ago. BoP was 👎🏻.

So who cares

Kryptonians gets KOd by enviromental and atmospheric changes. We know that Diana's sword was not able to pierce Steppenwolf with a slash and it failed to cut Flash's skin.

It worked on Doomsday only due to the fact that Kryptonians are weak to magical attacks.
