Now that I've read alot more comics than before. I have to say manga. Comics seem to move at a break neck pace with no "middle" .Story arcs tend to last a couple of issues while in manga story arcs tend to last at dozen chapters or more. There's no time to get a feel for the story. It's just boom then boom! Done. Also comic volumes feel short and unfulfilling . Alot of times I end up saying "that's it?" When I finish a volume. Manga volumes feel bigger and more complete.
Also I hate when a story event happens in another title. For instance I remember reading spawn . I finish an issue then all of sudden in the next issue spawn is in a wheelbarrow all beaten up and I'm like WTF happened!? So I how to find that one Anglia issue to read what happened. ( at least they said the issue number....unlike these next people..)
Reading ultimate Spiderman all of a sudden Harry Osborne is talking to Nick Fury about how they used him as bait for the green goblin when he attacked the white house......WHO WHAT WHERE AND WHY!? they didn't say the title in a small box like in spawn. It was just mentioned casually. So I had dig around to find out about the ultimate six title to read what happened.....see what I'm getting at here?
Comics are like a bullet train speeding past you. It looks cool but you can't really get a feel for it and some parts are missing/ on another train.
Not to say there aren't any great comics out there. Invincible,Spawn (up to the bridge arc) The mask(up to the teenagers), Birthright, ultimate Spiderman (2000, haven't got to miles yet so IDK how good it is)and the ultimates.
Manga is just so much longer and moves at a slow but good pace.
