I'm torn between the two, before I was pretty in love with mange/anime etc. But over the years I gradually fell out of love with manga and got more into comics but not by much. Tbh I'm not really invested with either.

IMHO I love comic characters more the designs, origins, powers etc, but I like the way how a manga tells a story and the black and white art style.

Manga has extremely horrible plot pacing, and character dialogue. Comics are better overall IMO.

Like with all the other times this gets asked, they are incomparable industries and thus their content can't be decidedly better. Now if you're talking about the quality of the industry, that's more debatable. In that case I would say the anime/manga industry is better as whole. Thats not to say it's better in every way though.

Comics are better than Manga. Manga is way to formulaic and predictable. The anime/manga have all terrible endings. At least with Comics, villains sometimes win.

Personally as story telling tools they are both great. manga is literally Japanese comics, or if your from Japan, comics are western manga.

For me it is a great balance of both stories and art work so for me comics win due to the art work being more visually impressive. Manga needs to go full colour to compete imo.

I said is easier to get into a manga then comics. That being said comics do have the benefit of having color and just looking more impressive. I guess if I have to only read one of them, I pick comics while manga tend to be adapted (I mean sometime the manga are better but still).

Now that I've read alot more comics than before. I have to say manga. Comics seem to move at a break neck pace with no "middle" .Story arcs tend to last a couple of issues while in manga story arcs tend to last at dozen chapters or more. There's no time to get a feel for the story. It's just boom then boom! Done. Also comic volumes feel short and unfulfilling . Alot of times I end up saying "that's it?" When I finish a volume. Manga volumes feel bigger and more complete.

Also I hate when a story event happens in another title. For instance I remember reading spawn . I finish an issue then all of sudden in the next issue spawn is in a wheelbarrow all beaten up and I'm like WTF happened!? So I how to find that one Anglia issue to read what happened. ( at least they said the issue number....unlike these next people..)

Reading ultimate Spiderman all of a sudden Harry Osborne is talking to Nick Fury about how they used him as bait for the green goblin when he attacked the white house......WHO WHAT WHERE AND WHY!? they didn't say the title in a small box like in spawn. It was just mentioned casually. So I had dig around to find out about the ultimate six title to read what happened.....see what I'm getting at here?

Comics are like a bullet train speeding past you. It looks cool but you can't really get a feel for it and some parts are missing/ on another train.

Not to say there aren't any great comics out there. Invincible,Spawn (up to the bridge arc) The mask(up to the teenagers), Birthright, ultimate Spiderman (2000, haven't got to miles yet so IDK how good it is)and the ultimates.

Manga is just so much longer and moves at a slow but good pace.

i wouldn't be so sure if i was you ,compared to years ago comics were more popular in america and their was hardly any manga at all but now comic is way less popular plus their is much more manga,it's only about 10-20 years before manga catch up with comics in america, besides worldwide manga is more popular than comics anyway ,which isn't surprising since manga are more consistent and all

these are purely opinions not facts(for me most comic story i read sucks compare to manga ones i've read) and there are hundreds of thousands of manga you can't based it just on the ones you know there are all types of manga.

comic is more iconic because they are much older than manga besides comics are loosing popularity now anyway and there are manga characters like pikachu more iconic than many iconic comic characters and the rest of the famous manga characters are also gonna catch up.versatility !?!? are you kidding ,that just depends on what type of manga you're talking about so no i would argue they are both equally versatile.

@mrx1122: Comics have varying artists, even for the same characters at once. Realism doesn't do it for many, so it's too subjective to say.
