Ok,.I've had this discussion with a lot of people, just to get a reading on the fans.
How much have you liked the recent flood of comic movies, AND, as fans, should we demand more,..or just be happy that they are making a movie?
The $#@!ing Transformers movie is gonna suck. Decepticons vs Autobots and the United Sates army, WTF. No hand held laser's and I dont even think they talk. I dont wanna see Tyrse and what ever the kids name is, I could care less about the humans, they never made a toy of any humans in the Transformers world. This one chaps my ass.
i like 300 also. I think that we should demand more. I like that the movies are getting made, but I think they should try and stick closer to the comics. The casting has been really poor. Topher Grace as Brock. Michael Clark Duncan as Kingpin. Ben Afleck as Daredevil. GIVE ME A BREAK.
V fo Vendetta was good too. I really didn't like the superman remake.
There is a whole island made of Kryptonite and superman not only flys near it without detecting it or feeling weaker, he lands on the damn thing. Also, its not enough that Lois lane is in a plane that is caught in a flat spin, she had to be out of her seat. She gets tossed around and ends up with only a couple of bruises.
LOTS of Marvel movies in the works:
i really like the fact that they are making comic movies even if sometimes they're pretty crap. its only now that they can create movies as visually good as spider-man and hulk etc. personally i thank blade for paving the way :)
Girth says:
"I think that only the big name characters deserve a movie. Examples would be Batman, X-men, Spider-man,and Iron Man."
I don't think so. Making movies only for those characters that have huge fan bases is a good way to get stuck trying to please people who read comics and those who don't (and letting many down in the process) or getting either too involved in back stories and canon or not involved enough. There's too much pressure on "big name" characters. That can produce really good films, like Batman Begins, but it can also lead to disaster. I think lesser known characters provide a LOT more freedom. Look at Blade.
I'm not happy with the movies just being made, I think there's good stories out there that merit translation to the big screen, the closer the translation the better it'll be. I think the movies that are closer to the heart of what the comic is supposed to be about have been superior to the movies that twist the character into whatever suits the movie. Better as in more entertaining and money-wise. I've been totally disappointed with the majority of Marvel movies so far, its like they're whoring out to Hollywood, letting them do whatever they want with their characters and stories.

"Sin City is by far the best comic book movie. "
Damn, you may be right. I myself like 300 hundred better, wait, no, Sin City.
hey Lord Gambler. I felt the same way you did (about Transformers)when first looking at the designs (I want original, old school look) and reading over the script. BUT,..after seeing a fair chunk of the movie, I will have to say, It actually might be surprisingly good. (if not I will eat pie,..so be it). My only complaint about the film is Still the look of the robots, but I really think it's going to be a super-fun movie to see. It all depends on how well the story holds together.
-don't give up hope yet.........

If they would have called it something else ya know, it would be a good movie, but they slapped the Transformers name on it and now I expect Transformers, nothing else.
yea,..trust me I hear ya,,The most frustrating thing is when you see/work with someone who just doesn't "get it"(Tim Story (FF movies) comes to mind). But, I think from the way Bay has been handling the criticism of the "look" of the robots,..he might change them in the sequal (There will be one,....bc it'll make enough money to wet the appitites of the producers)..HOPEFULLY (fingers crossed)
