DS. I might go back and forth on this one, as a bigger fan of that character I had some mixed feelings but I have come to appreciate the Doctor Strange movie more.

Oh please, both of those movies have more than enough legitimate criticisms. If what you say is true then Blade and Wonder Woman wouldn't be as popular here as they are. Not saying there aren't people here who are like that (and not simply trolling) but it's so rare it's hard to quantify. Even then it's probably not that they're used but how they're used, it's not just bigots who don't like forced political agendas, on more than just theses boards.
True Carol Danvers as a character doesn't get much love around here (I used to be one of her bigger fans here but it has been hard to defend the character for a long time), nor does Bri Larson so there's some animosity. But it's mainly at how they're used, and all the forced aspects that come with them. Even if one were to turn their critical brain off during the movie you're still left with a fairly bland popcorn flick, which is really the cardinal sin of the genre. The characters (hero, villains, and side characters) aren't interesting, the action isn't exactly exciting, the humor doesn't land, the story is forgettable, its addition to the MCU cannon and mythos doesn't enhance anything but in fact hurts things people already liked (Nick Fury for example, how bigoted of them).
Black Panther is a character people actually do like here. In the comics and even in the MCU. People really liked him in Civil War, unfortunately his own movie actually seemed to actively work to bring the character down. One of the worst storytelling tropes, in order to make the other characters look good (better than they're actually written) they make T'Challa look worse. He even had more of a character arc in Civil War despite less time on screen. It's not that they didn't like him, it's that people didn't like the downgrade, so again... it's like the opposite of what you suggest. The characters and Wakanda itself ended up being underwhelming. The action had some good moments but nothing that stood out and in fact the final battle was quite bad. Culminating in a showdown that looked about on par with the cgi from Blade. Despite all the flaws the movie is still actually quite heavily liked and defended on this site. Many consider it still one of their favorites of the MCU.
I'm just explaining some criticism of the movie(s), poll results aren't going to give you a full sense. The polls move quick and perhaps the Black Panther movie fans slept on it. One thing's for sure though, had it been Amazing Spider-Man 2, Black Panther would have stomped. AMS has a modest appreciation here. And total box office isn't going to be reflective of any place on the internet. So what made more money doesn't equate to more fans here of said thing.
