A CBM villain doesn't have to have powers or anything though. It just has to be a villain in a film based upon a comic book/graphic novel. By that logic, Mr Glass from Unbreakable would be more like a CBM villain than Joker.
@bullpr: He was a more grounded and realistic version of the character. At the end of the day, no matter how realistic this portrayal was, it was a comicbook character.
This a real (and for me interesting) debate.
@theamazingspidey: any input on that?
Joker is not a villain . Just as Loki after the Avengers and Fassbender’s Magneto are not villains.
So , my list for best villains are:-
1) Thanos ( Thanos has gained a cult status due to the MCU , he is one of the most iconic movie villains of the decade )
5)Vulk ( white-haired Jessica Chastain )
However , if it was a best character list , Joker would be at the very top .
The movie was absolutely amazing from start to finish even if I did not like some of the writing. He seemed like a real person with real life problems.
High tier power hungry evil but for a reason that makes sense to him at least. Thought he was much better in Infinity War though.
Well acted, a clever take, good visuals, a somewhat believable plan, but had some flaws like his plan for the big ending of his plot would have never worked.
Generic copy of the hero: check
Boring motivation that only makes sense in a movie: check
Actor playing the same role over and over: check
Villain made to look stupid so the hero can be funny: check.
Huge gap again:
What was the point? He was never a threat to captain marvel, nobody in that movie was ever a threat to her. He was a bland and pointless villain in a bland and pointless movie.
Gap big enough to kill multiple careers.
Zero backstory, rehashed, no real motivation, obviously never had a chance, total waste of screen time, illdefined abilities, horrible writing, probably in the top three of worst and most useless villains ever in a comic book movie. When villains from Elektra are more interesting that you, you suck.
Also it does not help that the movie was total rehashed garbage.
In terms of acting or who came off as the best villain?
If it's acting lock this thread ASAP. All of them together couldn't touch Joaquin on his worst day, the Phoenixes are not to be messed with.
If it's the latter then idk... Joker and Thanos take the top spots but it's also somewhat arguable...
