No true. Bulma has the best afro in series. Afro and being useless are impossible to go hand and hand.
"She started the adventure" Mizuki isn't an important character just because he started Naruto's journey (he told him to steal the Shadow Clone in the first chapter, which set the rest of the story into motion) when he never even appears past the first chapter. Likewise, Bulma isn't important just because she started Goku's journey when all she really does afterward is be the butt of countless perverted, misogynist gags. That's the only thing the story actually bothers to show her being used for; her doing dumb shit like making radars to misuse God's gift to humankind for her own selfish desires, time machines to fuck over the spacetime continuum (and the entire ... multiverse), getting knocked up by despicable ... mass murderers, etc is never a point of focus in the story as it's all swiped entirely off-screen, so these things are really nothing more than lazy plot devices that the author puts no thought into.
It's a fact that no one actually watches or reads Dragon Ball for Bulma. They're just tuning in because they want to see their favorite characters like Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo, Freeza, Broly, etc kick ass because fighting is the only thing that the plot actually focuses on. You could write Bulma out of the plot entirely and lose nothing. She sucks and is actually one of the worst examples of a female character there is. But I'd expect nothing else from a hack author who drew a comic where a woman turns to prostitution after repeatedly getting raped and said he wanted to spy on his own daughter bathing in an interview.
