The cherry on top of the MarvelComic-Con session was that 2x Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is set to play Blade in a reboot from Kevin Feige’s MCU. No other details were revealed.

The original from New Line Cinema starred Wesley Snipes.

Feige also promised that other titles on the horizon include a Fantastic Four reboot, with Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Captain Marvel 2, and Mutants on the horizon beyond 2021.

Fantastic. I've wanted Marvel to do something with Blade for years.

I just wish they specified if it was going to be a movie or a show.

Hell yeah! Great actor, great underrated character. MCU proves again why they’re on top. They always seem to nail their casting choices.

The shows follow the movies lead basically. The movies don’t do anything based on the shows though

And the same actress who played the woman who guilt tripped tony in civil war, play a completely different character in Luke cage. Does that make Netflix non-canon?

They just showed a Marvel Phase Four lineup with a bunch of D+ shows with no AoS, Runaways, Ghost Rider etc. in sight.

How much more evidence do people need that Loeb's shows are not canon to Marvel Studios productions?

Feige bounced from the Perlmutter ship years ago. He doesn't give a damn about his shows, he's ignored them since their inception. The only one he had any input in was Agent Carter where he was EP, that's why we got the little Jarvis cameo in Endgame.

When AOS is over it's likely they'll start using AOS characters in the films considering what Whedon said.

They better do Midnight Sons stuff, or at least Nightstalker stuff, because other than that, Blade is sort of one note. It's also impossible to replace Snipes in my opinion. He made Blade his role.

Ok it’s all connected is funny now. Because the Disney+ shows will be actually connected to the actual movie verse...I’m salty if I’m someone who worked on those Leob shows...

Would have preferred a TV show, they have more creative freedom to do stuff there but then again better than no Blade at all. And a solid casting choice as well.

Michael Jai White would have been the perfect cast for the movie but I'm okay with this cast. The question now is will it be Rated R? I mean, its freaking blade. I hard PG 13 could work though. Alita battle angel level of PG 13.

Gone but never forgotten

The way he got the role was a boss level move. Apparently after he the Oscar for Greenbook, he called Marvel Studios personally and told them he wanted the role, and Feige agreed without hesitation. The guy is a high caliber actor with a lot of range and accolades. You can't go wrong with this casting.
