Blackout (Ghost Rider) Respect Thread

This will be a nice little respect thread for one of my favorite villains in Marvel Comics A little unknown to those who never read 90s Ghost Rider, he is by far one of the coolest villains and Vampires in fiction IMO. I just love his pure sadistic tactics, plotting, and brutal style of murder. While never a physical threat to Ghost Rider, Blackout is always the kinda guy who can hang for a short time with Ghost Rider. The real threat of this Pseudo Vampire is that he is to Ghost Rider what Green Goblin is to Spider Man. As in Blackout knows all about Danny and Blaze, their family, their friends, ect. He is always looking to make them suffer however he can.

Everything history wise you need to know.

Strength

As a half demon Lilin, Blackout has incredible strength in the multi ton area. While never stated, the power grid rates him around 4-5.

Blackout lifts and wields with ease a large tombstone. Smashing Blaze with enough force to send him through to the tunnels below the cemetery.

Blackout easily catches Danny's attack and slams him with enough force to go through the wall of the house.

Blackout exchanging blows with Danny Ketch, and physically pushing back Ghost Rider till kicked through the portal.

Blackout and Ghost Rider again match each other in a grapple. Black out breaking free of Ghost Riders grip and slamming Ghost Rider through the gates.

Blackout matching blows with Danny Ketch again till a cave in collapse on them. Digs out fine.

Blackout physically catches SpOcks blows, and slams Spidey into car engine, wrecking it.

Durability

One of Blackout's best attributes is durability.

Blackout is rammed by Danny's hel cycle. A vehicle that explodes cars on the run through. Blackout not only survives but hides in the shadows fine right after.

Blackout shrugs off and continues fighting Danny fine after being smashed through a stone Mausoleum.

Black out is slam through the front of a car, rips through the roof, and bashed into a street poll. Then Ghost Rider states to himself he is punching him with his all to possibly kill Blackout. Even after all this, Blackout escapes fine at the first chance he gets.

Spock uses his super strength with loose morals to punch Blackout in the face dozen times at super speed. Blackout fights on with little hindrance.

Blackout shows no sign of pain when shot 3 times at point range with large caliber bullets.

Blackout is shot dozens of times with holy bullets and survive though in major pain.

Blackout does not even notice being stabbed in the balls and intestines. Never slows him down.

Blackout is beaten by a enraged SpOck this whole fight. Spidey breaks his legs and face, and hooks Blackout on meat hooks after throwing him. Blackout still shows no real pain, and states this is a minor setback for him at worst.

Blackout is stabbed in the brain with a Hellfire Chain. Never KOed.

This same blast that damage Ghost Rider superficially also manage only to superficially damage the arm of Blackout.

Set afire with burning Hellfire, Blackout still stays very much conscious and fully able to get away.

A single blast of the Hellfire Shotgun injures Ghost Rider severely. Blackout takes this blast with much damage to his flesh, but is still not KOed at all. Then suffers additional murderous beat down by a enraged Danny Ghost Rider.

Healing Factor

Blackout has a minor healing factor after reborn from Lilith as a more pure Lilin. Its not really that important in a fight, but he has one to recover from lethal damage time and again.

Stated in bio to possess healing factor.

After taking a Hellfire to the face and body, Blackout recovers in a few months time completely.

Blackout explains after the multiple broken bones, stab wounds, and other damage that he will simply heal in time and go after Spidey's family.

Weakness

Blackout has some specific weaknesses.

Blackout is very damage by sunlight.

It will not kill him but causes agony and requires much time to heal from.

Holy weapons also seem to cause intense agony.

Speed

Blackout is peak human fast, but fast enough.

Blackout is able to somewhat keep ahead of a speeding host Rider on bike for a short time.

Blackout easily dodges bullets in mid fire.

Blackout time and again is able to dance around Danny Ghost Rider. Whether dodging attacks or escaping past Ghost Rider's best attempts to keep track of him.

Blackout is fully able compete with Spider Man using Spider Sense, and catch Spider Man's super fast blows.

Claws

Like all good Vampire like characters, Blackout has razor claws for weapons.

Blackout's claws are stated same as fingernails but much stronger.

Blackout slashing the throats of foes, and stabbing the eyes of others.

Fangs

Blackout also loves to use his Fangs to drain foes of blood. He does this in impossibly short time too.

Drains to operatives.

Drains two humans in panel by panel time frame.

Drains Danny in what seems seconds.

Drains this Mutant so fast that Ghost Rider barely had time to get up on his feet, turn around, and stop him. She was already dead and Blackout gone.

Light Absorption

The most unique power Blackout has is his Light absorption power. It dampens into blackness all source of light around him. Only Sunlight, Infrared, and Sunlight are able to counter it.

All electrical devices source of light are absorb in the whole house. Blackout ambushes the top inspector with ease.

Another example of blacking out a two story house of all light to kill a family.

The skyscraper loses light, and only Infrared can show Blackout and where he is.

Blackouts the room to blind his victims.

Blackout blinds Caretaker for a successful sneak attack to mortally wound him.

Blackout blinds SpOck in the fight, where even Spider Sense was barely of use.

Blackout power also seem to block out Spider Man's entire spectrum of light from his Spider Bots, including Infrared mode for cameras.

Blackout's powers has shown to reach the area of a city block roughly at peak.

Battles

Collection of some of my favorite Blackout fights that we have in comics.

First fight between Blackout and Danny Ketch. A quick scuffle to measure each other.

Blackout and Danny meet again for a more final showdown. This time they seem near evenly match till Blackout makes the mistake of eating Hellfire.

Blackout and Danny meet again. Still horribly scarred from the last fight, Blackout decides a rout of aimless killing to drive Ghost Rider nuts. Blackout time and again brushes off Ghost Riders blows, and dodges Ghost Rider with ease to get at victims. In the end they both brawl in a collapsing tunnel. Both buried alive. Ghost Rider emerges first and we find Blackout dug out of the cave in as well.

Blackout continues his killing spree while Ghost Rider is suffering damage from Johnny Blaze who is chasing Danny, and pursued by H.E.A.R.T. looking to claim Danny themselves. Blackout gladly lets the various foes take turns at Danny while leading a chase of murder. Blackout is finally cornered and blasted by all sides before he could finish off a near dying Danny.

After being physically repaired by Stern, a super durable enhance human, Blackout was released with the mission to kill Ghost Rider. Blackout knowing Danny's real identity kills those close to him, corners Danny, and kills him. Nobel Kale preserves Ketch soul within by transforming anyway, and has a long drawn out fight vs Blackout. In the end Blackout and Stern are imprison together in an coffin.

A early battle during the Midnight Sons run were Blackout and two other Lilin try to take out Blaze and Ghost Rider. Blackout takes hostages to hinder the heroes. after the other Lilin is beaten, Blackout tries to kill Blaze from behind only to have Ghost Rider catch him. The two trade blows and Blackout gets beaten.

Blackout escapes the coffin and joins Lilith and the Lilin. Discovering his real origins as part demon of the Lilin race, Blackout serves his new mother. In this battle with the Midnight Sons, Blackout is first seen fighting Morbius, and never once KOed from the fight for the several panels that follow till a Lilin version of Dan Ketch bashes Blackout aside. Blackout with another Lilin then easily subdue and restrain Ghost Rider. Showing with just another weaker super human to himself is able to take down Ghost Rider. Blade then kicks Blackout off Ghost Rider, and goes to kill Lilith who then call Blackout to take the hit for her. Blackout closes the distance and gets stab in the face and dies.

Blackout is reborn stronger and fully half demon from his mother Lilith. With his new found life he decides to hit Danny where it hurts, his family. First he tries to kill Danny on the street. When that fails he and his Lilin ally teleport to Danny's house and threatens his mother. Nobel Kale beats both Lilin, and force them to retreat.

After the Lilin are dealt with, Blackout decides to get back to his roots and focus on getting the Ghost Rider to leave him alone. Blackout plots ambushes on Ghost Rider, and makes examples and threats to kill his family unless Danny lets Blackout off the hook. After this briefest of struggles, Blackout casually makes his get way while killing several with Ghost Rider helpless to stop him.

Blackout again threatens Ghost Rider up with the same offer as before. Both of them have a scuffle with Blackout realizing Danny was weaker than his norm. Blackout with contingency in place sets the kid up as bait, and escapes easy.

Blackout's final major fight with Danny is when all this threatening Danny's family comes to a head, and Danny takes care of business. Danny lures Blackout with a lie, and takes him down quickly. Then Danny ties Blackout to the tallest building for the sun to kill. Something Blackout survives and heals from.

Many years later Blackout returns as part of Danny Ketch's crew to capture Caretaker, and take out Blaze. Out of the four Ghost Rider foes, only Blackout plans ahead, and surprise attacks Caretaker for a win. Taking the powerful Blood member down. Right after this fight, Blaze shows up to which Blackout surprise attacks him, then holds Blaze off long enough for Danny to escape.

Blackout's last major battle was not against Ghost Rider, but against Superior Spider Man. After kidnapping Aunt May, Blackout threatens Peter Parker, not knowing he is Spider Man. Being looser in morals as Otto, Spidey was quick to get the info on Blackout, track him down, and attack him straight up. The fight was brutal, long, and Spider Man suffer some decent damage through it all. In the end Spider Man tortures Blackout as a message to the other criminals as warning.
