I doubt they've be vying for the same audience demographics. Unless there's anything else significant going on at the same time, BP will probably do pretty well for itself.
750 to 800 million.
It might even do better than Wonder Woman.
Worldwide, possible. Domestic, unlikely.
More than Justice League.
Black Panther is doing extremely well overseas. Infact its predicted for an overseas $150 million opening.
It is now outperforming not only Ant-Man, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Doctor Strange, but Thor: Ragnarok and is on its way to besting all pre-weekend projections. It should cross $150M in 48 markets through Sunday.
It's outperforming Ragnarok.
It is No. 1 in most plays, with the exception of those where Fifty Shades Freed has the upper hand. Crossing $150M in its opening frame would put the Wakanda group above Deadpool, Suicide Squad and Spider-Man: Homecoming in the superheroverse, and at non-adjusted exchange rates.
If it hits $150 than it will be ahead of Deadpool Suicide Squad and Homecoming.
For comparison overseas Suicide Squad did $421 million. Deadpool did $420. Ragnarok did $538 million. And Spider-Man did $545.
It seems that Black Panther is braking out everywhere.
@amcu Holy shite, it actually made 192m on its opening weekend. Beating Civil War, BVS, AOU (Those films had so much more hype than BP we know that). Its definitely looking likely that it will make a bill now but you never know it could have a massive drop, we'll see.
Yeah. I'm shocked. That's the 5th highest opening in history. I never thought I would say that about Black Panther.
800 or 900 million. It will do great in America where they are more PC, but not as good in the rest of the world, similar to Wonder Woman.

What does PC have to do with anything? lol. Come on.
Anyways reports have said that this film is doing GREAT in Brazil, African countries, UK and even South Korea and it still has not been released in China. You guys love throwing around the word PC.

Things that can be called "PC" sell very well in America. Just like WW, Black Panther is going to make over 50% of it's total box office in America. Even in comics "PC characters" originally sold well. People can talk about Marvel's PC agenda, but I doubt they would of adapted that agenda if their original characters (Kamala Khan and Miles Morales) didn't sell so well. It only started failing when they started alienating their fanbace by replacing all of the character that their hardcore fans paid to see. Also the writing wasn't very good.

Yet you still haven't explained how exactly the Black Panther film is PC????? By your logic are all minority films that succeed due to a "PC" agenda? Like I said Black Panther did very well overseas which is how it made it to a billion world wide. Black Panther even beat WW's foreign box office. As for the rest of the post I don't even get where you are getting at?

I never once called Black Panther a PC film, I only said the film will do better in America where they are more PC. In America as of late films and movies that star females and minorities have been doing extremely well.

I do not see how that was even remotely implied on my part...

But 51.7% of its profits come from America. It will probably finish its run with an even higher american percentage than that. Most other recent billion dollar movies only make 30 something percent of their profits in America. Compare that to AoU, IM3, or CW and they made 32.7%, 33.7%, and 35.4% of their profits in America respectively. The strong box office numbers obviously come from America.

It was an example of how originally what has become known as Marvel's "PC agenda" sold well in the comics.
