@ready_4_madness: Ok, but at the end of the day, Harley name is actually in the title of the film and it's been obvious since the film was announced the movie would center around her.
Harley is also the more well known and most popular in the film, so ofcourse the marketing will center around her. I'm very sure the other characters will shine in the film but at the end of the day people are coming for Harely Quinn.
Curious at to what looks bad in this trailer too people? Black Mask not wearing his mask? It's his origin you'll see later in the movie. Not enough BOP, well HQ and Mcgregor are the only things that GA will recognize so they're marketing it properly.
Well, I can only speak for myself but...
1. This is just me being nitpicky but the movie really feels like it should have been called "Harley Quinn" or the like instead of Birds of Prey. Nothing about the movie itself would need to be changed. I can totally buy Harley running into Black Canary and Huntress and having an adventure. But especially with the absence of Barbra Gordon this doesn't feel like the Birds of Prey people know from the comics.
2. I'm a little worried Cassandra Cain will be just some kid as opposed to her origin in the comics where she was abused and trained since she was a child to be an assassin by her father. Cass in the trailer doesn't yet seem to have anything in common with her comic counterpart outside of being Asian and female. Black Mask isn't wearing his mask but he's still a violent crime lord. Black Canary is black but she's still tough and kicking ass. Like with X-23 in Logan, I don't need the character to be exactly like the comics but I don't want it all to just be gone. Otherwise what's the point in even having her in the movie? I'd rather they just create an OC at that point and I'd have a way easier time accepting it.
I think the main problem is that myself and others are comic book fans, and while we're open to adaptations and changes between mediums, we still want it to be those characters and teams, not just an OC wearing their name. I'm looking forward to Harley and Black Mask the most, while the others still remain to be seen.
@emperorb777: Birds of Prey are also in the title, yet the marketing for the actual Birds of Prey members is non existent. Even in the posters they revealed yesterday. Harley Quinn can be front and centre but the actual members of the team should be advertised too.
For example we all know that Iron Man and Captain America are pretty much the focal point of The Avengers movies but we still saw the others in the marketing.
@ready_4_madness: this feels like something you would've complained about regardless, right now " not enough from everybody"
if we get some meaningful statement from every character It'd be "they're giving too much away, save some cool lines for the actual movie"
not giving away too much is always the better marketing style, no matter how much you ask and beg for them to release the entire plot in a trailer
@ready_4_madness: but... you do see all of them
you see them all do some of their trademark actions, Canary singing seeming like she'll break a glass, Huntress with her crossbow, Renee doing detective stuff
Harley narrated the first trailer of a movie called "Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn" but there's no need to claim that there's no birds of prey anywhere to be seen since they're all over the place, it's just that this particular trailer in Narrated by Harley, as far as we know they'll all narrate one trailer
but given how Harley is the only one really well know to pop culture, she'll probably be most of the marketing in order to bring these mostly unknown characters to actual fame
and one of the few? most of the comments on this page are overwhelmingly positive with a couple Marvel stans giving their completely expected hate
