In the comics, capes often add to the coolness of heroes like Batman, Moon Knight, The Shadow and others. It makes them look larger then life, misdirects bullets and just generally adds to the costume. But my question is this, and only applies to non/low powered heroes. Obviously for Thor or Superman this wouldn't matter...but, I digress. My question is, what do caped heroes do on extremely windy days? How do they keep their capes from becomming liabilities? Do they just put all kinds of weights in? Do they just go without the cape for that night? What? What do they do?
Big cape question
look at watchmen where that one hero gets his cape caught in a revolving door so he's an easy shot for the badguys.
Methos says:
"see "The Incredibles" movie... Cape Vs Wind & Jet Turbine = Dead Superhero M"
Let's put Superman in front a Jet Turbine with wind. Or Maybe some users on the vine who's name involves the letters "C" and "P" lol
Gottheit says:
"But most of the time..."
Exactly. Of course there are exceptions. But off the top of the head, Superman, Batman, Sentry, Taskmaster, Dr.Fate. I mean, its weird lmao

Yup. Majestic is the man though, thats why :P Its like any character created AFTER the 60's or whatever have a more modern look. Hence, no undies on the outside :P

Yeah, I've always loathed the underwear on the outside look, always thought it was a bit cheesy.
I'm sure there's some lame ass female character out there running around with her lady things draped on the outside :P

But it looks better on the big screen.

A serious answer to a silly question. In the case of Batman, he's explained that the tips of his capes are weighted. Black Panther has/had a cape that could retract to a Captain Marvel-length cape with a thought. Those are two I know that have some way to deal with wind. I don't know about others, but some that have capes that function as weak protection might have thin armor that could weigh it down.

This is from when Maj was in DC. Bottom panel.
You would think superheroes with capes would get cape-whipped. I never really got how heroines fight with their hair untied.

Sheeeeeeeet...because females shouldn't be wearing undies, PERIOD!
;) hubba hubba
The unnecessary capes in comics probably reached its peak in the 1990's. There were characters that had capes that were at least three times as long as the character was tall. While at first glance, the capes looked nice and billowy while the angstry character was about to have his soliloquy on a roof top, you wondered how they got along with it that long, or why three pages later, the cape seemed to shrink to fit the aesthetics of the panel. Add to that, they always seemed to have two Lobo-esque guns crossed over their backs along with their capes, which should have created a lot of tangle, weight, movement, unholstering and firing each one handed issues, but never did.
