Poll Better writer Donny Cates or Al Ewing ? (30 votes)
Who ? And why ?
Who ? And why ?
@jashro44: in ultimates he did some Morrison type of work
TBD haven’t read enough from Cates
What? Ewing murders.
@princesscadenza: Aside from his Immortal Hulk, I find his books to be too linear in terms of direction. And I am already oversaturated with another Annihilation book.
@princesscadenza: Tbf I don't like any of the current writers that are proceeding in their respective books.

Really? Even his Ultimate stuff? Ewing is quite good handing this cosmic side of Marvel, I'm personally loving this new Annihilation event.
His Avengers was pretty meh, tho. That I can safely say.
He ties most of his books to similar ideas. I mean he doesn't really do self contained stuff. Also his books are inconsistently being tied in to events and it gets annoying. It becomes incoherant when you have to buy multiple books to learn whats going in his books.
I haven't read his Annihilation but it seems like he has the same grp of cosmic characters from Annihilation ( aside from Doom who he is apparently appearing everywhere)

There's another Annihilation event going on ? Is it in his GOTG book ? I'm behind a couple of issues there.
Cates by far IMO.
Ewing stomps. Ultimates is one of the best comics of all time. Cates is trash.
Also picked up the pieces of Civil War II into a actual half decent story and wrote probably the best Hulk run of the next.....whenever years, lol
Two completely different writers with completely different writing styles. Both love to explore the history of the characters they explore, but one goes for the more bombastic and grandeur things(Cates), while the other one has more of a mellow vibe which always finishes strong, again in a bombastic manner, and also tends to do more sci-fi focused stories(Ewing).
I love both of them and their projects, but Ewing's stories sometimes are not really my cup of tea, so I tend to enjoy Cates' wring a bit more. There has been like 2-3 stories of his that I haven't liked.
Ewing has higher highs, but also lower lows. I don’t think anything Cates has written has been bad, forgettable, mediocre or boring at the very least. Ewing’s written some fairly mediocre stuff (IE: all his Avenger’s spin off books or the gimmick books he’s had to do like Contest or Deadpool), but he’s also written 3 of the best Marvel runs of the last decade (Immortal Hulk, Ultimates, Loki: AoA) & is currently revitalizing cosmic Marvel (through Empyre, GotG & SWORD). Cates is work is always a hell of a good time no matter what & while Thanos Wins & Thor are (I think) by far his best work, everything else he’s done has been enjoyable.
It’s a real toss up for me.

Yup, it's called "The Last Annihilation". The main event is in the GoTG's book, but it also tie-ins with other comics. Here: https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Last_Annihilation
I see, thanks.
