Avengers. I'd still place Avengers as one of the top 5 CBM's.

Both were groundbreaking superhero movies, both were above average, both had a good story, but Avengers changed the game for CBMs and shared universes. It truly was the start of an era.

Avengers had nothing special storywise or execution wise. It had something else that makes it memorable. The sheer scale of heroes uniting in such a grand scheme with huge battles combined with extraterrestrial invasion, technological leaps and stuff, that had never been done before. It ushered in a new era for Superhero movies and CBMs as a genre, have been going rock steady in popularity ever since.

Wonder Woman had a great story, great execution, some great performances, beautiful cinematography and score and the fact that a female led superhero movie particularly Wonder Woman was being made in such a scale for the first time. The ratings are a testimony to how good it was. It's the highest rated superhero movie ever. Also there's the whole feminism, female empowerment thing going on with that movie which helped it a lot to be this famous. And some people particularly men, seen to have a fascination with Gal Gadot. I see her a lot these days referenced in pop culture.

I like Avengers more, but it's certainly massively overrated if people srsly think it would destroy by any means.
