@kingofwakanda: It wasn't Nolan's groundbreaking thriller film like Inception or Momento, which were somewhat out of the ordinary. But I don't think it needed that. The movie was mostly based on the moral tension of the character which Pacino portrayed and Pacino played that role with subtlety. The editing and cinematography were also good. Pacino's performance was far better than anyone from WS in my opinion.
@vishop_: I think it says something that the rest of Nolan's film have been more high concept. That's his lane and where he excels. This material seems much more suited to someone like Fincher. This was a good film but I'm not giving Nolan credit just for being Nolan. Same for Pacino. This doesn't crack his top 15 performances IMO. Although he is good in this and I won't argue he's not giving a better performance than anyone in WS. WS isn't about the performances. It's plotting, pacing and action are what you come for.
@kingofwakanda: Lol I for one think that Insomnia's plot was better than WS. There was always a certain mystery/unpredictability behind the main character's perspective with respect to each action sequence. Like for instance
The pacing wasn't really a problem for this film either.
@vishop_: To each his own. What's happening in WS is more interesting than what's happening in Insomnia to me. I also found the pace to be a little dull, which is why I said this material is better suited for someone else. Again, I don't want to take a crap on Insomnia. I think it's good, WS is just my preference.
