Of all of the swordfighters in fictional history if they were all lowered onto a human's level of strength, speed etc. Who would be the best? Are you going the anime route and saying zoro or Kenshin Himora? Will you take the video game route and say Clouds Strife or Link. Or will you take the comic route and say Task Master or Death stroke? Anyone from any form of fiction is up for grabs, who will you choose? All contenders have their weapon of choice and if the weapon elevates their power that effect (but not their ability to use them) is nullified.(I just tookel the first names that came to mind.)

My "obscure" pick here would be Assassin (Kojirou) from Fate. Within the story, he was literally able to defy the laws of physics through skill alone. It's explicitly stated in the narration. I think that's pretty impressive.

From anime/manga in general maybe Kenshin.

From the comic book side of things...maybe Zealot.

@papinacho: If we talk about skill Obi-Wan is better, Luke is just more powerful

Obi beat Anakin in his prime and Anakin has the same potential as Luke

@annoyedimmortalspirit: Luke Skywalker fought Darth Sidious in a lightsaber duel and that was before reaching his prime. Later he walked all over Darth Caedus, who had by that point in time beaten everyone else in combat.

@papinacho: Ok, but Luke started his training when he was what, 19? He doesn't win because he is the best swordman IMO

He win because he is more gifted with the force, Obi-Wan is a better swordman

@annoyedimmortalspirit: That doesn't matter, Anakin started his training at 9 and still beat Dooku who had trained all his life. Granted you could argue that was through power but Luke trained much longer than Anakin as of his last book series.

His master Hiko Seijuro is leagues better. But I like Kenny the the best.

@xwraith: He's not a girl?

Nope...just your typical anime "guy". In all fairness he's based on a real historical character who was supposedly feminine looking so he's got kind of an excuse.

In Anime: Kenshin Himura though Hiko Seijuro is on a whole different level.

Other contendors in Anime: Rurounoa Zoro, Hawkeye Mihawk, Hiei, Byakuya Kuchiki. Are some of those that come to mind. Hiei is probably the most powerful out of those, but part of what makes them great are their vast Superhuman abilities, and the author mentioned bringing them down to the same human level. So their advantages in power and speed become nill. Hence swordsmen like Kenshin would shine because he is already skilled at the human level, albeit he could move at sub-sonic speeds but it's still more realistic and down to Earth then those other characters.

In Video Games: Link, no doubt in my mind. With Z-Targeting and his indestructible shield & sword combo - he's completely invincible, or at least he is when I am in control of him =P

Not much of an anime fan (quite the opposite actually) but I do happen to know Roronoa Zorro from One Piece is a killer that uses 3 swords at a time.

In the department of (somewhat) realistic fiction I think I'd choose Beatrix Kiddo (The Bride) from Kill Bill.

Yup! The sword fight scene in TPB is probably the best swordfight I've ever seen on film. The others I can think of were all done by him too.
