Best of the Best Comic Book Hotty's
yeppers, Helen Slater... man she's beautifull...
the 2nd was in the 3rd run of the supergirl comic, back when Linda Lee was supergirl. (ie, back white boobtube outfit time), anyway, for some reason Kara from the past came to this timeline. (it got very confusing because they grabbed her before she landed on earth, so they must have messed up the crisis somehow there...)
Kara from the past was way more powerfull than any supergirl since, she was still just a child then and still managed to be a scary mofo lol
M
ummm... quick run down through history...
First we had Kara Zor-El, teenage type Supergirl, about as powerfull as Silverage superman
Then we got introduced to her again, same character basically though. she went through what we would call today a 'RetCon', her history was rewritten and the got a new costume as well as some wierder powers.
That supergirl Died during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, noone actually remembers her in the DCU... wierd...
anyway, then we were introduced to this supergirl, who was effectivly a matrix created from Krptonion plasma. she was a shapeshifter and her powers were Psionic based.
at one point she was actually dating Lex Luthor (Aprox timeline Death of Superman), now this is where things get murker still...
the matrix supergirl didn't have a soul, she was basically a creation of science. anyway, she bonded with a teenage girl to save her life, Linda Lee (Homage there to the origonal Supergirl who used that name at the orphanige she stayed at.) and we were blessed with another incarnation. Supergirl who was not really a shapeshifter but could shift from Supergirl to Linda Lee whe she wanted. best secret identity yet.
This Supergirl went through several changes in her lifeline, including one where she bacame an Earth Angel, firey wings and all that jazz... bad plot line lol
after the Earth Angel storyline, she lost the ability to shapeshift and was stuck in her Linda Lee form, but with the same powers of Supergirl. she was at about half power here, think Superman with a shard of Kryptonite in his shoe... pretty pathetic...
Really bad costume supergirl, Linda in her prime... i really want to know what the designers were smoking that day!
anyway, during a really wierd storyline we got the Kara from the past back, Kara pre crisis on infinite earths. she traveled through time to come here and after a battle with several superbeings, and showing her strength (See previous scary ass post) Linda (Supergirl modern day) went back in time to change lives with her, so that Kara could live on in the future. however, things didn't end up as sweetly as all that, while in the past, Linda (I'm calling them by first names now otherwise it gets too confusing.) fell in love with the Superman there. (Again think golden age, 50s style superman, very camp hero's and villains.) and had 2 children.... (I'm not going to go into the childrens lives here as that breaks way too many continuity threads and it would take me a few hours just to try and explain it all.)
anyway... Spectre (Hal Jorden) and an unnamed assailant fought over the supergirls and explained the crisis to them. (At this point, Linda is the only one now who actually knows about the crisis on infinite earths...) explaining why it was important for Kara to go back to the time she belongs in, (Her sacrifice saved superman's life and helped stop the crisis... yeah, she was that important!) <-- Not sarcasm...
so the supergirls switched again, Kara went back to her more innocent time and Linda was left in the present...
Linda, having now lost her husband (Superman) and her children went a little mad with grief... she couldn't handle her life her anymore so she left, leaving just a note for Superman and her parents (Seperate notes) she left to 'see the galaxy', telling Superman not to come looking for her because he won't find her...
that was the last we saw of Linda, she's probably still around somewhere and will be brought back at some point... not sure when or how though...
and now we are left with the Supergirl we are familer with at the moment...
Kara Zor-El (Again... pretty much the same history as the first supergirl, the artists and writers payed homage to the origonal Supergirl by adding pictures at the end of every issue, showing a prominant scene in the comic with the new supergirl, and then doing exactly the same image in 50's style... i can't actually find any pics of this to hand, if i do find some i will post them here.)
whew... think i should rewrite the supergirl bio? i have condensed what i know as much as i can there without leaving out important parts... if i did actually write down all my supergirl knowledge i think i'd be able to fill up several forums just on my own...
that answer you're supergirl questions or do you want me to go into movie continuity, Justice League cartoon continuinty and Future Supergirls... i can detail Supergirls ranging upto the 35th century where a decendant of superman marries Braniac 5 and they produce a hybrid Kryptonion child... she's the one you see most often with the huge red logo draped over her shoulders and chest in the white robes...
meh, need a smoke now...
opens and can of coke and sparks up a marlboro red

oh my god... i'm so ashamed... after reading back through that mammoth posting i realised i had forgot a supergirl...
prior to Kara (Latest version) coming into everything we were faced with another supergirl...
Cir-El (no known alias)
she's the one in black with the S...
Right, Cir el appeared in Metropolis after an incident involving a group of people calling themselves futuresmiths... i won't go into detail here because she didn't really play a pivital role and didn't even have her own series.
Cir El was from the future, and a genetic scan showed she was in fact Superman's child... hearing this, lois went beserk on superman, accusing his of having an affair... Cir-El then told Lois that she was Her mother... superman and lois reconcile... should be a happy ending right?
another genetic scan later (Don't ask me how they managed to decode Kyrptonion DNA and then compaire it to a Kryptonion / Human Hybrid... they should be 3 completely different species...) it was determined that while Superman was the father, Lois was not the mother!
this has stayed in contunity for Superman with no known alterations, so if superman ever dows have a daughter, it won't be with lois.
(Right, that's the contunuty version... now for the truth)
Cir-El was created by braniac in a concotion of DNA from various sources (Don't ask me where he got krytonion DNA from, maybe clark was a bit more adventurous than we are led to believe as a child?) as a host for the 'YES' Virus (Where do they come up with these names?)
anyway, at the end of it all, Superman was shown a future where he was attacking the human race for some reason, he was told that the death of Cir-El would prevent this future.
this storyline gets really comlicated, dealing with lots of alternate futures and robot hosts so i'll skip to the end...
Cir-El threw herself into a time portal, erasing the future and the 'YES' virus that created it, effectively making sure she was never born so she couldn't come back and alter history... time travel paradox 101 but i'm not going into that either...
the rest of Cir-El's history and past was mopped up in Crisis (Latest version)
gah, thinks that's all the supergirls... can't think of anymore off hand...
M
lol if i rewrite the supergirl page i'm going to do it properly and list ALL supergirl incarnations from her first introduction in Action Comics #376 to modern day, quoting her powers, limitations and costumes....
it will take a while to do, and probably over 10,000 words but i'll do it when i can :)
M
