Best John Wick film?
I'm surprised the first is winning. It's personally my least favorite. The sequels, in my opinion, had much better stories, much better world-building, and much better fight scenes. I think the franchise got so much better when it expanded beyond dead dogs and into international assassins.
So for me, it's between 2 and 3. This could be recency, but I'd narrowly say 3. I think it had the most shocking ending of the series so far, and it definitely left me more excited for the next installment than the other two did.
@jb681131: It's style is not for everyone. The story was simple but the cinematography and choreography applied to execute the story made it really worthwhile for me, it's also a great introduction to the protagonist.
Haven't seen the third one, but as for the other two, I felt that the second one was somewhat forced in terms of its urge to be a continuation of the first one. The first one wrapped up pretty neatly and felt like a complete story when it ended, and the way the second one started didn't quite help. But anyway, let's face it, John Wick is not really the kind of movie you watch for a deep story, you usually watch it for action, in which case I doubt if any of them massively outshines the other ones.
2 is the best. I don’t see why 1 is winning. It has the weakest story and weakest action of the 3. 2 improved on the first one in virtually every way. 3 is the second best.
@theinsufferable: The world-building and styling are incredible.

I thoroughly enjoyed 2’s world building. The JW series is so consistent one can make a case for any being the best. Villain wise, Viggo was more interesting to me than Santino and Zero/High Table official and 3 has the best action.
John Wick 3>>John Wick>>>John Wick 2
Same here
John Wick 3, the first two are comparable
1 >>>>>> 3 > 2
The first had some actual emotional depth, and the first act is surprisingly soulful. Chapters 2 and 3 have absolutely nothing of interest in terms of characterisation or narrative. They're fun movies with superior action to the first (except for the dog scene from Parabellum, which was stupidly overlong and mercilessly tedious), but honestly feel like video games. No emotionality at all. No real connection to Wick.
2>1>3
First one because it was hilarious. Except for when the dog died. Everyone loses their minds over Johnny boy.
The third one turned into a popcorn gimmick where it doesn't look anything like it was supposed to be.
