Best Film? --- X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST vs GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

I don't think the 2 should be compared. DOFP was a badass action movie that made you think.

GOTG was just a straight comedy.

Guardians, no contest.

I'm just hoping DOFP will get that Oscar nom and then I can laugh at people who automatically hate on everything that doesn't have a Disney name brand on it.

@legacy6364: Sigh. It is looking as though Guardians of the Galaxy is being overrated due to it's humor. Days of Future Past is a stomp. The story was superior and it had the jokes, but it wasn't a comedy.

GotG is better in every way.

Guardians of the Galaxy was good fluff, but fluff nonetheless.

X-Men was the best film of the year, nothing tops it.

DOFP, it had a great story and top notch acting. People let the average storyline and bad villain slide from GotG Cus it was funny.

I was probably too old for GOTG, I still don't understand its massive success.

Guardians for me. Days of Future Past was good and has redeemed the XMEN franchise for me, but Guardians had a swag and certain charm about it that stuck with me.

Can we please wait another few months before asking whether people like GotG or ______ more? It's more fresh in people's minds and will likely cause more people to pick that without it being fair.

Guardians of the Galaxy..no question. I liked DOFP but GOTG takes it.

Being a comedy doesn't make one movie lesser than a movie that isn't.

Both of these movies are extremely close in quality honestly. It's getting really silly how people ignorantly write off comic book movies for having a lot of humor.

Anyways, GOTG was funnier, relatable, great acting and the best soundtrack in a movie ever. DOFP was great don't get me wrong. The story line was better than GOTG by a long shot. But that's all it was. I might as well watch inception if I just want to see a great story with no mutants. There wasn't enough action for me.

I rewatched X-men:DOFP recently. It's still awesome. But GOTG was incredible!

But I read comics since the end of the 70s, not as regularly as I used to, but enough to be more or less up to date in the bio of the main characters.

@uncanny_doom: I understand where you're coming from but in this case, it's like comparing Argo to Toy Story 3. They were both incredible films but they aren't comparable. This movie didn't have a strong story. It doesn't even really feel like a Marvel movie without the involvement of Thanos. It's like Iron Man 3, quite honestly. There's a level of humor that you don't need to surpass. This movie never felt serious or that the characters were in danger. I didn't like that.

The fact that this is even a question is sad. Dofp is epic, GOTG makes me vomit and makes my testicles hurt.

I enjoyed both very much, but personally I liked X-Men: DoFP more.

GOTG, it's a new kind of superhero movie that ties in with the universe Marvel Studios has created. DOFP basically screwed continuity to make more movies.

DOFP is just far better, worthy of a best picture nomination as of now, it really was one of the best Superhero films ever made.

I'll give it a 4.7/5 next to GOTG 4/5.

I think DOFP fumbled near the ending, while GOTG was fun and silly all-around.
They are very different movies, but based on what they intended, I'd have to give the slight edge to GOTG

Days of Future past was pretty good though.

X men dofp was definitely an amazing movie and probably the best movie I've seen this year. It's easily one of the best superhero movies ever made. I haven't seen GOTG yet but for me it will be very tough for it to top dofp.

X-Men

GotG. DoFP is good, great even, but it had it's own plethora of flaws in it (since everyone is so apt to point out how lackluster Ronan was). I can still watch GotG at any time and enjoy myself and it just gets better.

But these two aren't really the same genre of film outside being 'comic book movies'. It's like comparing Winter Soldier to Avengers...

I'm not really keen on those X-Men movies much. They're okay, but they just don't feel authentic at all to me.

Wow tough one, Enjoyed both very much, Evan Peters performance of Quicksilver almost swings it to Days of Future Past, But I also loved the humer in Guardians.

So If I had to choose, Which I dont, So I wont.

I liked GOTG more than DOFP despite Lee pace's lack of material to work with. Had Pace gotten even a bit more out of his role I doubt we would even have a real contest here.
