I know Thanos' creator Jim Starlin still writes for Thanos, and is probably the best writer for him in comics, but who else writes Thanos good? Other writers that i know that have written for Thanos are Jonathan Hickman, Keith Giffen, Ron Marz, Dan Abnett, Brain Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, Jeff Lemire, and Donny Cates.
Thanos
Character » Thanos appears in 1258 issues.
An Eternal with the Deviant gene, making him unique and extremely powerful, even amongst his own kind. Above all else, Thanos loves and worships Mistress Death. Few can equal his intelligence, strength, and ambition for power. Thanos has wielded the Cosmic Cube, the Infinity Gauntlet, and even the Heart of the Universe.
Best comic writers for Thanos? (Besides Jim Starlin)
@dcandmarvelcomicfan: I actually liked Donny Cate's little run and Jeff Lemire was pretty good too I thought. Stay away from Bendis Thanos though.
Marz is great, PAD didn't write a lot of Thanos but I liked his as well. I would say the best writer for Thanos is probably Giffen, who I might like more then Starlin(I would put Marz on the same level as Starlin).
The thing with Starlin is while he has the highest highs with the original Infinity trilogy, his Thanos has become less interesting over the years and since Infinity Crusade, I think the most interesting stuff that happened to Thanos was in Giffen's Thanos run and Annihilation.
Abnett wasn't the best or anything, but his was pretty good as well.

This list seems up to date.
Best: Ron Marz, Keith Giffen and Dan Abnett.
Great: Jonathan Hickman, Jeff Lemire and Peter David.
Worst: Bendis.
Everyone else is average to decent. Starlin was great once upon a time, but his writing has taken a steep nosedive.
@the_hajduk: He has appeared in a lot of stories and many big events. Personally, I would recommend:
- The Thanos Quest
- Cosmic Powers
- Thanos (2003)
- The Thanos Imperative
He was a joy to behold in big time crossovers like Annihilation, Infinity Crusade and Infinity War.
@dcandmarvelcomicfan: Well Starlin has actually just wrote his last ever Thanos story this week, Thanos infinity ending ogn
Ot
My faves would be Starlin(God),Ron Marz, peter david, Donny Cates Keith Giffin, Jonathan Hickman and DnA
Keith Giffen or Abnett were the ones who did something actually significant over the last few years imo.

@jb681131: THANK YOU
What is the Thanos reading order? I’ve read the original Infinity Gauntlet storyline and that’s it.
Look at my post just above
@the_hajduk: You're welcome (I've updated a bit the list, I posted it too fast)
@cull_obsidian: Is Jim Starlin retiring?
@the_hajduk: You should get this one Amazon.com: Infinity War (9780785121053): Jim Starlin, Ron Lim: Books
@cull_obsidian: Is Jim Starlin retiring?
I don't know but it's been almost 50 years that he's doing comics.
@jb681131: well @cull_obsidian said this is Starlin's last Thanos run/story
@dcandmarvelcomicfan: From Thanos at least
@jb681131: THANK YOU
Btw if you want to read that, I'd say that Thanos Rising sucks and is the worst characterization of Thanos I've ever seen(as well as completely unecessary), but to that list, Thanos vs Hulk comes after the Infinity Revelation and you'll be confused if you read it before.
There was also his recent solo which was meh
@jb681131: Starlin got booted by Marvel because they kept wanting to change his stuff, so I doubt he's going to actually be able to write for Thanos again.
That being said, Marz is likely the best consistently
@professorrespect: what do you think of Hickman's, Giffen's, and Abnett's Thanos? How do they compare to Starlin?
@dcandmarvelcomicfan: I ain't read a lot of Thanos so I can't be like mega critical of them but I can say most of them are decent
Starlin seems to really self-wank his own creation but that's to be expected
Really comes down to taste tbh.
I can be quite open minded and just enjoy certain arcs for what they are for example i enjoyed Cates Thanos wins arc as you can see from my name lol. Same goes for Hickman but I also appreciate the older stuff.
@jb681131: Jurgens Thanos is a clone, not the real one.
Keith Giffen or Abnett were the ones who did something actually significant over the last few years imo.
