Thank you very much for reminding me of indie, Alex+Ada and Nailbiter were amazing, I'll add them to my list.

Speaking of indie, I'm surprised Saga hasn't been brought up, from what I hear it's one of the best books on the shelves.

Hickman's Avengers/Secret War saga and Spider-Man Life Story are the first things that come to mind. Other than that, Venom by Remender and Scarlet Spider by Chris Yost are two of my personal faves, as well as Aaron's Thor: GOT.

@thor_parker82: That's surprising, I definitely don't have you blocked. Although we've had our disagreements in the past, I like chatting with you lol. I'll send you a PM to test this.

I've posted about Bendis' Superman in the Superman forums but to answer your question, I don't like Bendis' Superman run. He's repeated all his mistakes when he wrote for Marvel and there are so many things he's done which have ruined what I like about the character. Aging Jon Kent from 10 to 17 years old is a crime in of itself.

Tomasi is the unsung hero of DC since 2011 imo.

Peter would actually tell you it's Captain America.

But no one beats Peter at being the best superhero, and that's a fact, you're factually wrong if you think otherwise.

@thor_parker82: Peter would tell you it’s Clark if Clark existed on his earth lol. Steve and Clark are nearly identical.

I gotta vehemently disagree with that, Superman is the greatest hero bar none and that’s a fact. Peter is definitely in the top tier (as is Cap, Bats, Wondy....and Thor who we shouldn’t overlook either). All of them follow in Clark’s footsteps ain’t no doubt bout that my friend. 😬😬😬

Hard to compare with Steve though, I still think Peter would look up to Steve more, but he'd definitely see Superman as a role model as well, right up there with Cap.

There is no point in arguing what's factually wrong, I'll just let you go with your wrong opinion and embarass yourself when you spout elsewhere that ridiculous claim.

@thor_parker82: Always wish they would’ve explored more of Steve and Pete’s relationship in the MCU, Steve and Peter have so much in common and are so much alike that seeing them play off each other in comics and even the small tidbits we got in the MCU were great.

If anyone’s factually wrong it’s you buddy 😬😬

Peter and Steve's relationship absolutely stomps Peter and Tony's, would've been nice to see that translated to the MCU, either way the Peter & Tony relationship was well done by the Russos and awful by Jon Watts.

Sure bud, sure ;D

Batman: A Court of Owls (2011) is something any hardcore fan of Bruce Wayne should read, it basically brings back hope for quality Batman stories that we weren't used to ever since the early 2000s with Hush or the 90s with Knightfall and the Killing Joke. It's very plot driven, much like the aforementioned arcs, and it's very high scale. I think it could stand on its own as a graphic novel aside from the entire run. I tend to enjoy character drives pieces of art in general, in novels, in films and in graphic novels - that's why this definitely stands out for me. It's a properly layered out, interesting superhero arc.

Black Widow: The Name of the Rose (2010) is probably the most emotional CB story I've read if I'm being honest. It stays very true to the character and includes plenty of interesting references and interaction with A listers, while introducing a part of her origins that's entirely new and it does it so well it works. The art is top notch digital work, the writing is almost poetic at points and the action is fantastic, everything really manages to put you inside the arc and drive you through it alongside Natasha Romanova herself.

Hawkeye (2015), an extremely unique take on Clint Barton, and really any superhero. It's so gritty and psychological it's almost not a superhero run. When I think of Hawkeye's badassery I think of Blindspot, but when I think of a well done, character driven and well developed hero run, I think of Fraction's Hawkeye. A bunch of iconic traits here and there, from Lucky the PIzza Dog to Clint's trick arrows and the Hawkeye cencor symbol to boost the excitement levels. The art also gives off the unique charm called for in this type of run. And bonus points for slowly bringing Kate Bishop into the spotlight using this.

Injustice: Gods Among Us (2013) was a very underrated story IMO. It's not really something I consider canon to the main DC universe, but rather somewhat of an alternate story, like an extented, more realistic What If. That's what's so great about it for me, it basically gives us a very good look at what would happen if theoretically the beings of great power in DC went rogue. It is also one good something to bring up everytime someone asks "what is Batman doing in the Justice League". Honestly, because of that, this might be my favorite comic book all around, although I would never go as far as to name one. Not just that, but it also gives an, admittedly bizarre but still fitting to the tone of the story, showcase on every character. From Harley Quinn and Green Arrow to Superman and Aquaman, sometimes using fun character interactions.

Black Widow (2014), I think I like it so much because it almost looks like Edmondson and Noto were inspired by Marjorie Liu in a way - as much as I enjoyed Natasha's 2016 run, these are the only 2 runs of her, not just from the 2010s but in general, where I felt like Natasha was the sole protagonist in every way and everything else just revolved around her, which is the whole point really. When you have people like Daredevil and the Punisher and you still manage to pull off writing them as greatsupporting cast you know you did a fine job. Needless to say the entire run is very versatile story wise and the art, while controversial, is one of my favorites. It also has my personal favorite fight sequence in comic books that I remember.

Batman Vs Deathstroke (2016) is another story giving me the 'old days' vibes but only combined with modern technical traits I believe should be adopted in recent comics. What I mean by that is, the writing reminds me of the late 90s - early 2000s stories of the Bat-family, but the art is exactly what it should be: mid 2010s. Basically it's a good example of the ideal modern, weekly story for me, even if it's not as exciting or well written as the rest of the things I went through these years. At this point I should also note that this is literally the only story - and by extent, run, referring to Priest's Deathstoke - I bothered with in Rebirth. I was very opposing to the whole idea of this phase because it changed too much for my taste. I hope I don't get too much hate for this.

Kinda sad that comics have been going to shoot for the past 4-5 years or so, but I feel like we're slowly getting some new stuff nonetheless. Also, for some honorable mentions that I wouldn't describe as ''the best'' because of many flaws or just not any particularly exciting traits are Secret Empire (2017), Catwoman (2011), Batman: The Black Mirror (2011), Green Arrow (2011) - but I still haven't finished that last one, it was actually recommended to be on this site somewhere. Just runs I enjoyed very much.
