Happy 4th of July to all our American readers! It's time to celebrate the birthday of the nation you call home by checking out some of the best covers from this past week in comics. Each week, the staff of Comic Vine discusses who their favorite American patriot is and they all agree it's magician Lance Burton. Afterwards, they pick out their favorite covers. Let's get right to business while I ponder why the terrapin isn't the national animal.
CAPTAIN AMERICA #22 by Alex Ross
Of course, we can't have a Best Comic Book Covers of the week on America's Independence day without discussing CAPTAIN AMERICA #22 by Alex Ross. He always does stellar work, and this cover really tells the story and the journey of Steve Rogers.
BLACK WIDOW #8 by Phil Noto
Next up is BLACK WIDOW #8 by Phil Noto. We're getting a little Russian on this one, but that's ok because Noto puts out some stunning work here, which is a bit weird to look at because the cover is a split of Black Widow and Winter Soldier.
BATMAN ETERNAL #13 by Dustin Nguyen
Here is BATMAN ETERNAL #13 by Dustin Nguyen. The whole set up for this cover is pretty awesome. Nguyen always creates these very visually stunning covers and we love the little details he put into this piece like in Gordon's glasses.
IRON FIST: THE LIVING WEAPON #4 by Kaare Andrews
Next on our list is IRON FIST: THE LIVING WEAPON #4 by Kaare Andrews. Someone is about to get punched! This is a really cool cover, which Andrews uses a minimal amount of color here and mainly sticks with black and white.
MAGNETO #6 by Declan Shalvey & Jordie Bellaire
Finally, here's MAGNETO #6 by Declan Shalvey & Jordie Bellaire. Well, this pretty much discusses the whole series. Magneto is the harbinger of death and each issue has a large body count. The reaper outfit looks awesome here as well.
Twitter pick of the week
CAPTAIN AMERICA #22 by Carlos Pacheco & Dean White
You guys picked CAPTAIN AMERICA #22 by Carlos Pacheco & Dean White on Twitter. It makes sense, since Captain America is a true American hero and the colors by White here are truly awesome.
Finally, while this next book came out last week, we still need to give a little bit of love to our Canadian readers, especially since Canada Day was on July 1st. So here's an issue celebrating Canadian pride!
CAPTAIN CANUCK SUMMER SPECIAL
We couldn't get the info on who did this cover, but man, I hope they're eating poutine at their seat, or maybe they're having some Timbits.
That's it for another week of awesome comic book covers. If you saw something you loved that didn't make our list, make sure to put it in the comment section below. Also, follow us on Twitter. Every Wednesday, we ask you to vote for your favorite covers using the hashtag #CVCovers. Have a great 4th and stay safe!
