Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra | Character Design Tourney — Betting Thread
At @cocacolaman’s request and with his permission, I will be running a competition that coincides with his tournament. It will specifically be a betting game. Essentially, each participant will begin with 100 coins, and they’ll use those coins to bet on the victor of the matchups in Cola’s tourney. If you predict correctly, you'll get the coins you wagered added to what you already had. If you predict incorrectly, you'll get the coins you wagered subtracted from what you already had. One may bet those coins however they please, but if they run out of coins, they will be unable to to participate again until the next “reset”. Each reset will occur at the end of a "stage". The first 3 stages will only be 25 matches long. After that, we’ll be within the homestretch, and there won’t be any more resets. Whenever a stage ends, the participants will be ordered from first to last based on how many coins they have. With this ranking, points and rewards will be awarded in descending fashion. For example:
- 5 points and gets to save one design
- 4 points and gets to pick one matchup
- 3 points and gets two extra votes
- 2 points and gets one extra vote
- 1 point and gets a goodbye poem written about them
The points at the close of each stage will be totaled at the end, and that will decide our overall victor who will get the grandest reward of them all...we'll keep that a secret for now.
While it may sound complicated, it really isn't. I'll be sure to thoroughly guide you guys as we advance; I just didn't want to make this opening post too cumbersome to read. All you guys will have to do is wager points based on your predictions. Feel free to read through the rules below for a recap + further explanation.
Rules:
- Each participant will start with 100 coins.
- Each participant will bet some or all of their coins on who they believe will win the matchup.
- If they guess correctly, they will get all of the coins they bet added what they already had. If they guess incorrectly, they will get all the coins they bet subtracted from what they already had.
- After every 25 matches, the stage will end, and a ranking for that stage will be made according to how many coins everybody has.
- Points and Rewards will be given in descending order to the participants based on the ranking.
- When a new stage begins, everyone's coin totals will reset back to 100, and we'll repeat this process until we reach the end.
- At the end, the person who has the most points total from all of the stages will get the secret, ultimate reward.
- Each betting match will occur 24 hours before the actual voting match.
- The betting match is open until Cola posts the actual voting match.
- You can't give coins to any other player.
