Hey Everyone! So as many of you know Legend of Korra has been released on Netflix, and it’s a roaring success becoming the #1 TV Show in all of America, 8 years after it's premiere in 2012.

And with that being said it's time for Korra fans to...
Find the Light in the Dark
I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to do an updated Korra respect thread, that’s expansive, immersive, and most of all gives the readers all the information they need.
This thread is NOT:
An opinion piece, it will essentially be a evidence/feats depository, and the intro's and captions will be careful to not have hyperbole in describing the images and gifs shown
There will be no scaling or character stacking to avoid escalation and inflammation, other characters will be rarely brought up who aren't directly related
There won't be calcs or pixel scaling, those types of analysis aren't needed here since it isn't a VS comparison
So this thread won’t be about about attacking other characters or shows related to her let’s just discuss the evidence the shows and comics have provided us, and draw your own conclusions.

Avatar Korra: 2020 Legendary Respect Thread - Part I - Mastery of the Four Elements
Unprecedented even among the echelon of Avatar's, Korra has been able to bend 3/4 elements at the age of 4. Since her discovery by the White Lotus, she's been immersed deeply in the bending arts for the first 3 elements to incredible degrees. Upon starting her journey as The Avatar, she would learn the final of the four elements, air in Republic City, which she would hone over the remainder of the series as her adventures took her back to the Water Tribes, and into new territories at the Air Temples and the Earth Kingdom. As her legend progressed she would develop and pick up even more unique bending styles to add to the plethora of bending arts she had already mastered, becoming one with the elements.
Below are 4 sections, devoted to each element, in the order she learned them with the details of her mastery embedded within.

Avatar Korra of the Southern Water Tribe is truly an incredibly gifted Waterbender, having been taught by the greatest Waterbender of her time Katara. Her incredible abilities have allowed her to do battle with the most dangerous Waterbenders of her era, and come out on top. Let’s take a dive into her showings.
Waterbending Techniques: Master Class

Basic Water Blast Variation:
For a master of Korra's caliber even a basic water blast can be animated and manipulated in dangerous waysSense of direction can be altered Water blasts can be fused from spaced out tendrils, spun around and fired midair to increase power and range instantly
Water Rings
Korra creating a water ring in the opening credits of the showKorra creating a water ring once again to prepare her final attack
Ice/Snow Tunneling
Korra tunnels threw the ice and snow from all the way from where the white lotus outpost is to where the mountains areFor clear measurement just look at how small the outpost is relative to the large clearing in front of it and the mountains that run along that distance
High Speed Water and Snow Gliding
Korra is able to propel herself at high speeds on water, in this instance it's not only her but a boat as wellHere she uses the technique at extraordinary speeds traversing a large part of Yue Bay instantly. Longer than the length of multiple United Republic battleships, and completely out-speeding the Equalists Biplanes barely covering any distance in comparisonKorra also has a snow variation of the technique, note the crazy amount of trees she's zipping by
Normal Speed
And in a reduced capacity she can use it to gently glide at a normal speed
Water Gimbals
Here Korra uses an awesome(and completely random) technique where she binds a sphere of water in between two cross rings of water
Giant Ice Flake/Crystals
Korra creates an gorgeous layer of detailed ice Freeze Frame to capture the beauty and skill
Travel Sphere
Korra used this to protect her and Mako as they traversed the sea floor of Yue Bay, withstanding the pressure below, and allowing them to breathe
Water Cloak
Korra can also use a more malleable cloak to wrap around herself and others, while Naga swam near surface level

Waterspout Variations
Able to play hop scotch with a her waterspout lol
Such is her skill that she can summon a waterspout with no stances or motions needed
Practically performed psychically, a testament to her comfort-ability with the technique And used to clash evenly with Unalaq
Ice Spears

Tentacles
Among the other things that happens in this gif Korra uses tentacles to slap away a squadron of Northern Waterbenders, and flash freeze another oneFreeze FrameAnd of course in the second series finale Korra is able to use water arms incredibly effectively against Unalaq himself
Water Vortex
Korra is also capable of summoning a gigantic vortex of water which she used to overpower Desna and Eska, two very powerful waterbenders, keeping them at bay

· Redirections Pro Bending – Korra even used redirection effectively in pro bending matches

Steam Bending
Korra can bend steam, manipulating a large amount capable of over-riding the pipes and heating system, and flooding the warehouse with steam
Healing
Korra was taught the art of healing by Katara, the greatest known healer in the world, and is able to use it very skillfully and practically -
Able to heal bruises...Burns...And herself lol
Her mastery of healing comes to a surprising extent as it's the prerequisite to perform an far more advanced and especially rare variation of the technique right below
Spirit Bending
Korra was trained by Unalaq in how to spirit bending, which is a derivative of healing, by manipulating the chi in other beings, midway through season 2 Korra was able to spirit bend an entire army of spirit bats
Spirit Bending Supernova
Korra takes the already advanced technique a step further on seen by even Unalaq, allowing her to releases the purified energy as an explosion to purify a large area
AOE Purification
As a result she erodes the all the vines, and moss that were desecrating the holy site with the purified energyUltimately Korra uses the technique on it's creator(when they both became essentially god's no less) to obliterate Unalaq and Vaatu at once
Plant Bending
Korra can draw water from plants, in this case spirit vines
Power and Scale:
Part 1 Small Scale: In small scale we'll measure her power based on how potent her smaller attacks are
Korra is able to blast a three person team out of the ring with a single water blast With a small wisp of water Korra can grad a large metal torpedo in the midst of propulsionAnd physically steer it in another direction, just with a small amount of waterHere Korra straight up demolishes two metal jet ski's with basic water blastsThe scale and range of this is impressive, the resulting explosion from those thin streams shatter the ski's and completely dwarfs both the ski's and Desna and EskaKorra is able to hold off and directly slam into Unalaq when's he's in the DAS in pure waterbending power, an incredible feat of sheer potency that she lasted that long in base
Part 2 Large Scale: Here we will evaluate her power based on how large and powerful her bending is
Large Ice Wall
In the first episode Korra raises and freezes a large wave of water reflexively, significantly larger than the bridge it's encapsulating Freeze frame Side profile for length
Water Pillars
Korra raises a large pillar of water to cushion her landingFreeze frame
Iceberg
Korra raises a huge iceberg out of the ocean, far larger than a bi-plane and strong enough to take it down
· Waterspout
To analyze the scale, speed and power we can just view where and how the water spout started, at the bottom of the stadium, creating a huge tidal wave at the exit pointAnd reaching all the way to the tip of the banners that crown the stadium right before the glass ceiling in seconds. The scale, speed, and force of this is absolutely jaw dropping
· Waterspout Again
Korra raising a monumental amount of water to oversee the battlefield in Yue Bay
· Water Spout/Geyser Emphasis - Feat so fast you'd miss it
Korra creates a waterspout, this time with the equivalent of a tidal wave of water where volume is concerned. Her, Mako, and Asami are literally ants inside a cup of water here, individually the spout is 10-12x the length of their body and since it's cylindrical it's diameter is that all around, of course the waterspout would adjust size as Korra gets closer to the shipThe mass is maintained even on this scaleAnd the spout reaches the top of the warship, narrowing at the tip, the scale Korra and technique Korra uses in this moment is utterly massive, she literally rode a large tidal wave
· Typhoon
Korra summoning a vote of water that envelops the part of the Mo Ce Sa sea they are battling onFreeze frame, even than this is it's earlier stages
· Colossus
The big kahuna of waterbending feats, Korra lifts a massive tidal wave of water from a canal in Republic City and launches it at the Colossus with enough force to knock it back a considerable distance than freeze such an enormous and strong mecha giant in place Frame by frame strip to show you where the Colossus started and ended to figure how far it was pushed Korra than raises another wave of water to completely immobilize the spirit cannon Yet when the Colossus powers up with more spirit energy it is able to break free Ultimately Korra is able to block a strike from it even after it powered upLet's not forget in addition to the wave that hit the colossus, Korra also froze the canal while partially raising portions of it Front of the frozen wave that the colossus destroys to set itself freeAnd we can see the water the seeped under it's legs and froze behind it was also substantially large after it shattered the front portion of the ice
Attack Speed
Pay attention to the sheer speed of the second water blast Korra raises, as an earth disk closes in on her face, she's able to pull it up and in between her face and the disk to deflect it Here Korra is able to reuse the same water blast to bat way a volley of attacks individuallyCombines agility with her waterbending so that she can attack on the moveBlitzes an entire team of pro benders in the semi finalesCompletely nails Tahno the previous pro bending champion's waterbending captain Is fast enough to grab and freeze two gas canisters mid release And to top it all of Korra is able to wind up and fire a water blast with such speed that she completely blitzes Unalaq before he can reactLOL at his reaction

Desna
Bends the water at an angle to narrowly hit the ski's right on target

Is able to ensnare around a storm of dark spirits bats, and enclose them before they can escape
15. Localized Freezing
Both a technique and an example of precision Korra freezes the water around Unalaq's arm while leaving the rest of the water arm unfrozen to maintain it's flexibility to drag him down to her Uses it again on his other arm, effectively defeating the most powerful waterbender in the water tribe by outdoing his own waterbendingUnalaq even concedes defeat forced to use the Dark Avatar State to break free
Multitudinous Skill
As seen with other top tier masters of their elements, the ability to do multiple advanced techniques at once is a sign of tremendous mastery to perform multiple high level techniques efficiently.

Korra can maintain a massive waterspout and water arms simultaneously

Korra can maintain a giant vortex of water while riding her water spout inside, with the techniques physically separated but maintained at once
Korra's Waterbending - Manipulation of the Environment
Korra has used waterbending in unconventional ways to one-up her enemies
Korra raises and freezes a wave between her and the metalbending officer, while ensnaring his cable, forcing him to crash and let goRaises one of her opponents with the water under the arena floorboardsUses clumps off snow on the street to shift into water to malfunction a mech Curves a stream of water discreetly on ground at an angle to encircle a spirit without it noticing Than attempt to spirit bend it Lifts a huge pillar of ice and curves it to the side to uplift "Tonraq" and his skimobile, while making sure it lands without too much damage
The second element Korra learned, Korra's earthbending is mighty, allowing her to alter the terrain and control the movements of others to dominate battles.
Power and Scale
Earth Waves/Quakes:
Korra has a penchant for unleashing variations of earth waves to topple over large objects, groups off opponents, or alter the scene of the battle to heavily favor herself
Earth Wave Variations:
Uses a small wave to launch a car into the air in the Tears up a road and launches an equalist and there motorcycle in the air Overwhelms Tarrlok with a wave sending him crashing into the fountain behind Creates a mini earthquake to rock the courthouse Uses her earthbending to create a rolling plain of sorts that takes down the Lieutenant and his men Unleashes a massive wave of earth tearing up a street
Even on a reduced scale Korra can narrow them down to specifically target a person
Overturns the earth to smash the balcony Tarrlok held ontoEarthbent a small wave to try and hit Zaheer on target
Large Boulders and walls: In order of scale
Shoves large boulder asideShoves even larger boulder asideRaises an entire row of boulders each far larger than a human with a single kickBetter shot of the amount of boulders raisedRotates the huge back wall of Tarrlok's office to displace his water and completely overwhelm himRaises a huge wall of earth to prevent the spirit vines from chasing her and MakoA fantastic example of the sheer power Korra commands is when Tarrlok has an entire battalion of metal benders round up and raise boulders/platforms in the air to trap the non bending protesters, just count how many officers are actively bending as I highlighted, well over a dozen!And even more officers assist where the trucks are to help pull the platforms into the truckYet Korra is able to effortlessly override the bending of all the officers present to bring the boulders down gently
Gigantic Boulders and walls:
In the series finale Korra raises multiple huge boulders to chuck across the city and pummel the Colossus withAt some points the boulders are represented as being as large as the Colossus limbs though of course the size changes are dubious She once again raises another band of boulders to attack with before being interruptedAnd even knocks away to giant boulders a significant distance with one arm while holding Kuvira with the other and weakened
Earth Bridge:
As Team Avatar proceeds to hunt down Equalists they take turns showing off their individual skills, when it's Korra's turn, Asami signals to her to do somethingKorra stands up while Mako, Asami, and Bolin stay seatedDoes a motionRaises her armsAnd boom she raises a gigantic platform for the car to slide on from a large distance, the platform itself far taller and longer than the vehicle, dwarfing itThe platform itself extends down the street and gets bigger, look how massive it is, each individual piece is comparable in length to the buildings and the entire street, incredible scale on Korra's part and effortless
Environmental Manipulation:
Granted many of the earth waves are also designed to mess up an opponents footing but here I'll list more concentrated and singular usages
Toddler Korra trips up a White Lotus SentryKorra launches a triad member up in the air Korra BFR's Jinora and Ikki(they weren't hurt don't worry)Korra launches the protestors table stand sky high Korra catches the lieutenant by surprise and smacks him into a metal wallKorra uses a boulder under an equalist to put him down in CQCA tour de force of earthbending here, Korra spams multiple pillars in CQC and from afar in tandem with earth waves to "unhorse" the motorcade of bandits, and large earth walls to separate them from AsamiKorra uses an incredibly discrete and quick environmental attack that leaves a hard to notice dust trail up until it got to Zaheer and raised a boulder to trip someone even with his speed and senses And even from afar Korra can raise large boulders to try and flank Unalaq atop his spout

Capable of using standard metal cables in combatAfter a mere week or so of training Korra could defeat Wing or Wei in a sparring match, despite either brother being the most powerful fighter in Zaofu after their own mother
Doubling as chronological advancement and a precision section:
Previously Suyin was unable to get 100% off the metallic poison out of Korra's bodyWith guidance from Toph, Korra was able to extract the remaining traces deep within her body her3 years after the factFuses it into one orb of poison and sends it to Toph to be disposed off Korra even gains the recognition of Toph herself for performing a feat Su failed and Toph thought she herself had to doKorra is able to utilize modern metal sheet bending efficiently, easily deflecting a barrage with her own metalbendingOffensively she uses the style remarkably similar to Kuvira, binding vital body parts precisely, as she does to President Raiko's campaign managers mouth without even looking at him

Korra blocks and and dissembles it into a armillary sphere of sorts before transferring and combining it into a mini wall behind herShifts said wall into a stream of liquid meteorite and fires it back at KuviraCurves it to flank her, and hardens it into a blunt object to knock Kuvira off her feet and into the panels
A true tour de force of bending ability, an application of shape manipulation, phase shifting, accuracy and speed in a combo that yielded devastating effects of metalbending...against the premier metalbender of her time.
Scale:
Bends a large opening into a metal wallEnd result Tears open a truck ceilingBends an entire train cart ceiling by parting it to create a huge opening for Team Avatar to escape with Wu
Environmental Manipulation:
Flings Kuvira into the air with the floor beneath her to capitalize on the vicious onslaught that brought her down there in the first place
The Third Element Korra learned was Fire, and she has a natural talent for it, employing a wide range of firebending techniques and methods too maintain the heat on her opponents in combat.

Korra is capable of negating and diffusing her opponents firebending, going beyond the usual methods of just blocking with hands or her own firebending, she even goes as far as to manipulate her opponents firebending while it is being actively launched and bended by her opponent.
Causes the fireblast to cave in and allow her to pass through unharmedPractically swims through this fire blast by parting and weakening it completely reducing Two Toed Ping's firebending and himself to nothing

Twister of Flames
Korra creates a twister of fire to blind Kuvira, and her two elite guards, so that she can quickly dispatch them with her follow up attack
Dual Bladed Kick
Korra rapidly twirls her legs to create two large blades of fire to ward off an onslaught of spirit weeds
Ring of Fire
Korra creates a ring of fire to encircle and trap Kuvira

Small Scale
Blows open a huge hole in the Rebel Spirit Blows up a eel spirit at the Southern Portal Overpowers Zaheer's airbending with a double legged blast that sends him flying Clashes evenly with Kuvira's metalbending of meteorites, even forcing her to use all three pieces to create a shield to block her second attack
Large Scale
Korra uses a large flamethrower to launch away a white lotus sentryUses a another huge fire blast with a single kick to knock away a group of equalistsShe's able to use fire blast large enough and powerful enough to cover a mecha tank in flames and push it back

Prologue:
The last of the four main elements Korra learned. As her spirtual awareness grew Korra finally gained access to Air. Over the course of the remainder of the series she vastly developed her Airbending in tandem with her spiritual journey, to the point it became her go to element in the back half of the series and for the comics.

Is able to zoom around air temple island with Tenzin's children and stay in the race competitively wellBy Turf Wars Korra is comfortable enough to ride an air scooter on her feet
Rotation
Korra spins herself with air fast enough to unwind the dark snake spirits that ensnared her, while do some neat break dancing, and using the wind to send them flying as well after being unwound off her to create distanceKorra uses the same move to repel the fire sages
Enhanced Strikes
Korra uses air to enhance her punch as she tries to shatter the ice barrier encasing the southern spirit portal, creating a massive shockwave of air with her strike On a toned down level Korra uses it to enhance her kick to disarm Asami of her arm protectors

Uses a small airspout to catch herself midair with little movement requiredUses a airspout against UnalaqOnce again summons one to aid her in the battle against The Colossus right before entering the AS

Lifts Mako up with a cyclone to demonstrate her airbending skill to the onlookersUses it combatively to ragdoll a triad member
Cyclone Variations

Impact Discs

Creates a protective sphere around herself, team avatar, and Wu to block a deep dive slam into giant metal pillar

Oxygen Sphere
Korra covers hers and Asami's heads with sphere's of air to breathe in and protect their heads from the toxic gasIncredibly Korra can maintain the sphere on herself and Asami without concentrating or any movements, even ready to fight with it on
· Asphyxiation Sphere

Korra one shots a mecha suit with a single air swipe
· Lava and Fire
Korra deflects Bolin's lava shuriken with a simple air palm, keep in mind how powerful a single shuriken is, consistently going threw metal like butter
Fire Stream
Mako and four mecha suits unleash a combined fiery assault on Toph, Kuvira, and SuyinAnd right before they can be spit roastedKorra blocks the full force with an air shield effortlessly and keeps it up with no stress until everyone is able to get on board and fly away
Large Scale
· Hallway
Sends Amon flying with a hallway sized air blast
· Vaatu
Unleashes a large blast on Vaatu fairly similar to him in size
P'li and Zaheer
Korra once again unleashes another gigantic air blast that is fast enough and large enough to nail P'Li and send her flying while forcing Zaheer off his feet Freeze frame of the sheer scale, Korra doing this to 2/4 of the Red Lotus is very impressive especially when chained up
· Airship
Creates a titanic whirlwind of air to dig an entire airship out of a giant mound of sandFreeze frame
Precision
Airbends the driver out from under his belt, over the chair, and into the back of the vehicle
Airbending Staff
Bukijutsu
Korra is able to spin her staff around in different positions and switching between arms with impressive speed without falteringKorra winding her staff upTo knock away a few triad members

@tektonic: Wow bro, you snapped, I'm really a sucker for very detailed things like this , I found about 5 things I forgot she could do which is impressive considering half of my brain is an all avatar characters feat bank. I really love this it's not even funny and this is just part 1??!!!!.

@tektonic: I really liked the ice crystals gif, I never noticed how beautifully that was animated before. And I'm a big fan of the protective air bubbles she used around her and Asami's head.
Wow. The amount of time needed to put into making a thread like this is insane, and one could even say you went overboard with the info in some areas (I wouldn’t because the more detailed, the better). Amazing job, can’t compliment your dedication and detail in each different sub section of each section.
Korra is strong and skilled, no amount of personal bias against her (for reasons referring her show or her character) is going to be able to take that away, and you did a good job showcasing that.
Anything in particular that caught your eye about Korra?
The whole Fire section really impressed me tbh. I already knew how good she was with water and air, but never sure where I'd place her as a firebender. But looking at all these stuff, they were really impressive.
Oh, and once again, the introductory gifs of water and fire sections are amazing.
I'm torn between "you put in a lot of effort, and this should be really interesting", and "I just don't like Korra, so I think I'll ignore this" lol. I'll use this post as a bookmark for now -- in case I want to come back and read everything later. Kudos for all the hard work thus far though. That's dedication lol.
@tektonic: There are other feats you don't have here, though I don't know if it's by design or not. Or will you be adding more feats to this later?
Anyway, really good work so far. She deserve more love. The show was really good and Korra was one of the best characters that we have gotten in a long ass time.
I do wonder though, when you are done with this all, if you will put everything in the OP or if you will have them in different post on here.

Part of me wants to detour and do I little Kuvira/Unalaq(Pre Fusion only) thread, because I really like the contrast of these characters.

I wanted to put the things relevant to the sections I was outlining, so that things flowed better in an already overwhelming post. And I was tired AF lol. If anything I might do a few mentions in a seperate throwaway post if I think anything really needs a mention.

Very nice work. Korra's bending isn't always very flashy, but you showcased the sheer precision, tactical applications, and subtly of some of her moves very well. Especially her earthbending, which many consider to be one of her weakest elements. You showed off how she uses it to destabilize and surprise her opponents. Catch them off guard or trip them up. Korra is a very intelligent and tactical fighter.

Anyways, most of her S4 feats I’ve already seen in a lot of the battles, but I did purposefully stop reading through the respect thread a little early to try to avoid any unnecessary spoilers. Lol

I am honestly shocked at the attention and amount of responses I am getting in this thread, PM's, and even on Reddit. When I was making the thread I honestly wasn't expecting all of this, but I'm glad I did it.
@tektonic: I am honestly surprised there are not more responses here. Can't say PM's and Reddit but I feel it's weird it only have 1 page yet here.
ATLA/LOK respect threads/CaV's don't get much responses in the first place, that being said it's still a lot and I really like the quality of responses, rather than generic responses. I have the rest outlined but it won't be posted for a while homeboy needs a break.
