Visuals - Aquaman
Worldbuilding - Aquaman
Plot - Both weak but if i had to pick one the more coherent Captain Marvel
Characters - Again both were really weak, but Captain Marvel because of Fury and Coulson
Pace and Tone - Captain Marvel
Heart - None really
Own Identity - Aquaman
Both are 6.5/10 comic book movies, ultimately i will pick Aquaman because despite all its flaws, and even if its identity is Fast and Furious based, at least Aquaman has its own identity.
@nucleon: Why though? Captain Marvel was average like most Marvel movies and Wonder Woman. Aquaman on the other hand has insane underwater spectacle. It is like watching a live action anime plus the world building. I am not ditching Captain Marvel but praising how better Aquaman was compared to average superhero movies.
I saw Aquaman and left the theater kind meh. It was not that good or anything and I thought the visuals looked too fake but not horrible or anything. I think they should have just left out Manta and just stuck with Orm.
I saw Captain Marvel and left the theater annoyed that I paid money to see that garbage. Carol was never in any danger at any point in that movie. She was so much more powerful than all the villains what was the point? The skrulls were horribly handled. Brie just played everything like she didn’t want to be there and came off as a person I didn’t even care if she won or not. It had very basic and predictable writing. I thought her friend and her daughter were much more interesting and would much rather watch a movie about her and her daughter with one of them becoming Photon more than this garbage.
I actually kind of liked Captain Marvel. Granted, I was expecting an awful film, so my expectations were low.
I didn’t love Aquaman like a lot of Viners do. I thought it looked really good and the action scenes were great, but I was never caught by the story or plot.
Right now, I’ll say Captain Marvel, but if I rewatched both, I wouldn’t be surprised if that changed.
