Anime: Japanese vs English

When you watch anime which dub do you prefer?

Shady internal affairs aside, I've mostly liked Funimation's dubs.

Brina Palencia's performances most of all.

Depends on the anime. I like DBZ's dub more than the OG Japanese.

One Piece: Japanese obviously- 4Kids Sanji sounds mentally handicapped

Naruto: both dubs are equal

DBZ: English dub stomps, Japanese versions are too high pitched

Hellsing: Both are great but the English dub takes it for me as I love Anderson’s accent

Death Note: same as above, both are great

I definitely prefer subs. While I've watched a couple of dubs that I thought were decent, most of them just feel like they don't fit there. Plus they tend to overplay really.

Almost exclusively dubbed.

I rarely watch anime but I would prefer the original language of any film or tv show.

Japanese. There are significant changes to the characters when translated. Kenichi Shirihama for example...or the best example may be Goku, who isn't a hero at all in the original Japanese. He is basically just hick that likes to fight, and he ends up on the good side mostly. But he isn't this super man type righteous hero that the dubs made him out to be.

If it’s a good enough anime (Demon Slayer) I won’t wait for the dub and just watch the sub. But if I have the option I’d always pick dub.

I used to only watch subs if the dub was truly horrendous but now I generally watch episodes as they come out so I've grown used to subs. Still will watch it in dub if the dub is excellent.

It depends on the anime.

I don’t typically watch anime, but when I do, I usually like to listen to the English dub. One anime I watch would be DBZ. I can’t stand the Japanese dub and I think the English dub is far better.

Old school DBZ english,(Kai dub is garbage) but DBS japanese.
