Alita: Battle Angel tracking to be a YUGE box office flop

I hope this movie makes all the money. I hear it's pretty good but this news sucks. Admittedly marketing has been a bit meh.

It was most anticipated Hollywood movie after Avengers endgame and Captain Marvel according to some online poll in China.

It actually got good reviews? Every time i saw the trailer, I thought it looked not-too-great. I hope it does well, then. I like original sci-fi and it sucks how it never makes much money.

@jasonv80: yeah I hear the world building is great, Alita is a good character and her relationship with her father is heartwarming. Negatives I hear are pacing issues and the relationship with the 'love interest' is meh.

Would be a shame really. It's got decent reviews so far and fantastic visuals pretty much like Aquabro. Where are all the love at?

To the surprise of no one. Movie looks like garbage and that's from a huge Alita fan.

This is the reason why we'll never get the Akira movie that's been bouncing around Hollywood for more than a decade or the Cowboy Bebop adaptation that's also been rumored forever. Maybe that's for the best.

Have heard about that. Too bad it didn't happen. Don't know if Reeves would have been a nice choice for this but would like to see how a big budget CB adaptation would look like. IMO it is one of the easiest to adapt for western audiences.

We already had that, it was called Firefly. Haha.

Wew, that's gonna be a major loss for the studio if this movie doesn't make it big at the box office. I hear the original series was big in the 80s when it came out but it obviously didn't have the staying power of the likes of Akira, Cowboy Bepop and Ghost in the Machine.

I saw the movie

The CGI, the action sequences were really good. The 3d really stands out like Avatar and Life of Pi. Alita character is pretty much like Diana in Wonder Woman, naive and always ready to help others.

The problem with the movie is the love story between Alita and Hugo. It is a very important motivation for Alita and the movie spend a lot of time with it but it never has any emotional impact on me. Many of the emotional scenes really fall flat because of the lack of chemistry between Alita and Hugo

The villains and henchmen are really stylish but are not that memorable.

It is still a fun movie if you are an anime fan.

I am looking forward at how Captain Marvel holds up to Alita considering by CM trailer, they seem to have the same plot.
