Yea i totally know what you mean like that scene for example where the Aliens tail is creeping on those two in the shower...Looks like the cheap scare gags you would find in most generic horror films...But its Ridley Scoot so ive got my fingers crossed that he knows what hes doing and wont let us down...(Given a majority of his body of work)..Which is why i,m really excited for this one.

That tail creeping up the leg is a direct homage to the scene in Alien where the creature does the same thing to Lambert.
The male character in the first scene appears to be changing into something else, but all the film reporters said this was a "back burster". I think it's more likely he's changing into the neomorph
I am cautiously digging it. There are only two good movies from this franchise and they were made 30 years ago plus. I'd like to see them expand the universe in a meaningful way instead of trying to recapture elements of the original which leads to disappointment.
I wonder they wil lfinally explain where the xenomorphs come from.

It hasn't been explained fully as of yet. Supposedly in this film we learn exactly why the Engineers created this bioweapon. My dream scenario is that the titular"Covenant" was a pact the engineers made with some semblance of a Lovecraftian Old God. Reverse engineered this bio weapon from a sample of it, thereby creating the black goo and the xenomorph.
@lawz: Yea I remember that scene where Lambert gets killed..It's iconic....But that particualr shot in the trailer looks really gereric as hell tbh,killing people in the shower is a really tired and cheap scare gag at this point...Hitchcock may have May have created it and made iconic(with the whole vulnerability aspect) but so many lazy directors have used that shot and beat the uniqueness and terror directly out of it that's it's a washed up tired scare gag now..But who knows Maybe Ridley is trying something new....And what the heck is a neomorph? Are we getting new Alien variations in this?

Apparently we are getting a new variation. I won't post it here to avoid spoilers, but if you google neomorph you'll get some pretty cool concept art. I believe thats what that guy is turning into in the opening scene of the trailer.
I'm with you on the shower kill scene though. Tired as hell.
@those_eyes: Nope there are many theories floating around...Like the Predators might have been their creators and just dropped them off and abandoned them on the site in Aliens 1986, In addition to leaving them on a host of other planets throughout the Galaxy so they could create the ultimate super prey...But the most prevalent one is that the Space Jokeys are their actual creators...
Those were some good effects. That scene with the dude's spine was chilling.
I can see the argument for it looking generic in some scenes but I feel like this was to hype people up who were disappointed by Prometheus and its lack of well...anything. This trailer gets enough of the point across that Aliens are prominent or seemingly so. I'm sure people would complain if he did a retread of the trailer for the 1979 film (which has aged horribly and has also been done to death at this point). It's the Internet, people complain about everything.

@those_eyes: Well Incidentally there's another theory that the two may have crossed paths just before Prometheus and that's why the Engineer crashed and was injured..Remember they have hunted the space Jokey before Becuase there was a Sace Jokey skull shown in AvP: Requeim in wolfs trophy room.

AvP isn't canon, but in a recent series of (what are supposed to be part of a new canon) comics (Fire & Blood) an Elder Predator called Ahab hunts an Engineer, which is considered the ultimate game.

I think it looked good. It looks a lot more like an Alien movie, unlike Prometheus. Not that I didn't like the direction that Prometheus took. I actually really liked Prometheus. I hope this movie isn't just a generic xenomorph fest. I'd prefer to see more about the Engineers and all that. We're supposed to get a Alien sequel with Ridley soon. So that's more of the perfect opportunity for the classic xenomorphs. But whatever, I'm still gonna watch it.

The Aliens were created. I think the spore n ear scene is kinda the start of them. The egg scene makes me suspicious. It's like a chicken or the egg thing, bc facehugger came from ??? Still amped though I love the Aliens.

Prometheus basically confirmed that they are bio-weapons made by the Engineers with the intent of wiping out life on Earth. The main question now is why they wanted Earth gone if they were the ones who created us in the first place, why they decided the xenomorphs were the best way to do it, and what other insane things do they have in their labs?
i dunno, Prometheus was a mess in terms of timeline n canon. It's so messed up. I disagree, Pro didn't give an origins. There's no Aliens at all expect the last shot. What I mean is that the Aliens are a virus, there's no origins bc there aren't any Aliens, just whatever dna they absorb through facehugger. And again, who created the face hugger? Are they a natural specials in this planet (planet in Covenent)? That's my 1 mill question. The damn face huggers.
TBH, I don't care at all really about Alien origins. I just want a good movie. I'm just wondering how they're gonna tie all three diff Aliens in this.
