In the marvelous realm of Norse Mythology, there are few twisted stories which are left unspoken, eerie texts duly forgotten for fear of retribution. One such is that of an old tale, reaching as far back as the Viking Age, in a time when Gods were prevalent and fables beget truth. Long ago, a vengeful Disir named Jorunn, a Guardian Spirit connected to Wyrd (Fate) and whose purpose is to protect Mortals and those of Nordic Clans, forcibly inhabited the body of a young, unsuspecting woman, whom would then seek out a mate to bear her a child. Having become pregnant and finding no more use for the father, she murdered him in his sleep and laid him to rest in the nearest river. Years after her son, Matthias, grew into adulthood and fought in many battles, he too was struck down by his mother, and buried within an unmarked grave alongside his treasures. Using arcane magicks, Jorunn invoked his soul to return and merely had to wait. Hours would pass and he would rise from his mound, welcomed back by Jorunn to parade among the living as an ambiguous Draugr, an undead warrior prone to wreaking torment.
Thaumaturge: In the moment that Matthias recovers, Jorunn explained her deceit while revealing the need for his ruination; killing and reviving him as a Draugr would unlock his latent Disir power. Matthias is half-Disir, half-Human, regardless of the Draugr curse; this means his Disir abilities are not only weaker, but are unaffected by the anathematization. However, the combination of his newfound talents make him incredibly formidable. This special mixture has negated the corpse-black epidermal tone, the unmistakable stench of rotting flesh, and the generic swollen, hideous appearance, allowing him to retain his natural look prior to his downfall.
Matthias possesses partial foresight (precognition) and control (persuasion) over the destinies of others including his own, able to guide his targets and himself on the right path; he can also sense and track the coming of death upon anyone anywhere (although not prevent it, unlike his mother); honorable offerings and sacrifices, such as lighting candles in homes and leaving out food and drink, can temporarily reinvigorate him (injured = fully restored, normal = 2x efficiency). These traits are most effective during winter and cold nights, essentially improving by a factor of 4.
He has obtained the mystical Draugr attributes, affording him faux-immortality (everlasting pseudo-life) and enhanced vitality (aesthetically prime condition), great physical strength (up to 20 metric tons) and resistance to injury (enchanted bone, muscle, and tissue density, and resilience to skin damage), shape-shifting (transforms into a seal, grey horse, great-flayed bull, or black cat), size alteration (increases his mass by 6x), dream participation (engaging in activities), inducing insanity (resulting in general chaos, jealousy, greed, paranoia, etc.), dispersing (converts to wisps of smoke) and phasing (pass through solid matter), and minor weather conjuring (generates any type of storm above).
