Note: Due to DC Converso being somewhat inactive at this current time I figured I'd post the first issue of my planned Justice League series. No sense in letting it go to waste in the depths of some long forgotten PM.

Warriors: Part 1 of 5.

TeenheartThroblogger 28 just posted:

Believe it or not, I know the moment the world changed.

In fact... I know the exact second everything I know (HELL the whole WORLD knows) got altered beyond recognition. Not in a bad way of course, I'm not one of those idiots that was fine with psychopaths like Superman and Batman running around unchecked. No... I'm one of those people that actually SAW what happened in Metropolis last week... and believe me when I say... I'll never be fine with supervillains and murderers like Superman running around EVER again.

Like I said earlier, I was in Metropolis when the self proclaimed 'God of Steel' waged war against the criminal known as Hal Jordan. It was a Saturday morning, as I'm sure you all know... and like all my Saturdays I'd decided to treat my younger sister, Sally to a meal at Big Belly Burgers. I was on my phone, Sally happily munching away at her french fries, and all was fine and dandy.

Well, it WAS anyway... until two Gods decided to use the City as their own personal wrestling ring.

Sally spotted them first, I was busy sending my boyfriend a text message when she pointed out what appeared to be a caped figure hovering far above us in the sky, right between the skyscrapers. He was too far away for us to make out... but then we saw flashes of bright yellow energy smashing against the figure... and I realized far too late that something was very wrong.

When Hal Jordan crashed into the street the shockwaves his impact generated shattered the window right next to us. To be fair... it shattered most of the windows for the next few blocks... but this one sent a shard of glass skimming across my cheek, which is why I focused upon it. Not only that... but the impact sent cars and people flying everywhere... and as Superman hovered towards the Yellow Lantern, ignoring the cries for help surrounding them I finally understood why the Internet had been ablaze about the costumed idiots that had been popping up in recent years. The two of them seemed to share a few words, I was too far away to hear what they were saying...

So I did the only thing possible in that situation, I gripped my sister by the arm... and ran. Sally was crying because of the impacy... and apparently that Kryptonian ba$tard didn't like that very much. He looked our way and sent a burst of his... fire(?) vision in our direction, he was like a god swatting at an irritating nat. I swear to god I felt the heat zip over my leg as we behind a turned over vehicle for cover.

Sally must have fallen badly on her leg... because her crying got even louder. Part of me was annoyed with her, the other part of me was trying not to join her. "We're gonna be okay." I remember telling her, the sounds of the two villains' battle booming from behind the car. Above our heads a giant, yellow boxing glove smacked right into Superman, sending him smashing into the side of a building. Thick, black dust plummeted down towards us sending both me and my sister into a coughing fit... and that gained us the attention of Hal Jordan. I'm not sure why he bothered with us... maybe his ring needed a fear charge? Maybe he just wanted some quick amusement. Either way when I looked up from the ground I saw the monster staring down at us, a cocky smirk on his face as he pointed his glowing ring directly at my skull.

"Be afraid." He said, his dry smirk growing across his mouth as he let the fear sink in. "Be VERY afraid."

I gripped Sally's arm tightly and closed my eyes. "...we'll be okay..." I whispered.

And for some reason. I knew we would.

"No, Jordan!" A loud, strong voice bellowed from just out of my view. A bright blue light had illuminated the surrounding area. "It's YOU who should be afraid!" A beam of blue energy burst out from just behind the car, knocking Jordan in the chest and sending him tumbling across the street.

That's when I saw them.

I gripped Sally by the hand and pulled her onto my shoulders. For some reason I couldn't look away from them. The danger of death was still very real. However... when these people showed up... for some reason I knew everything was going to be all right. I'd seen all of them on the news... the Justice League I mean... and after digging around on the Internet I've learned each of these heroes by name.

At the helm was Lex Luthor, he was standing proudly, dressed in a dark green and purple power suit, with his head in clear view for his enemies to see. Say what you will about the man... Luthor wasn't worried about his opponents knowing his identity. Crouched atop a street lamp, smoke grenade in hand was Azrael, if you haven't heard of him it's understandable. From what I've read in the Tabloids he prefers to stay out of the limelight, hence the Ninja like outfit he wears.

Hovering by his side was Blue Lantern, a stern look on the Alien's red skinned face. Out of all these heroes, he was the one people seem to know the least about. However he seems to have an aura about him... that just makes you trust him. Directly by Luthor's side, seemingly trying to take the top spot was Ocean Master, he was gripping a large black trident... and he seemed right at home in all the destruction surround the team.

FInally, towards the back of the group was Captain Cold of the Rogues, with his Cold Gun and hoodie he seemed somewhat under equipped compared to his teammates, and from the look on his face he seemed to be having the same thoughts. Throughout the entirety of the battle of Metropolis, he seemed really uncomfortable alongside his teammates. I don't really know why.

All I knew at the time was that everything was going to be alright.

"We're going to be okay." I whispered as the heroes that would be known as the Justice League all grouped up down the street.

"Fear not, my friends." Blue Lantern said as Superman and Yellow Lantern hovered down towards the group. "All will be well!"

Lex Luthor seemed to smile at what his ally had side. For whatever reason he found Blue Lantern's saying amusing.

"Yes, Thaal." He agreed as his suit's shields lit up, covering his armour in bright green energy. "You're right." Superman's eyes lit bright red. Yellow Lantern began to let out a low, barely audible chuckle... and Lex Luthor's allys all prepared for combat. "All WILL be well!"

"Justice League!" Oceanmaster yelled, his voice deep and commanding as he pointed his trident towards the two Supervillains hovering above him. "TAKE THEM DOWN!"

Space. Throughout the entire universe, sace seemed to be the only constant. Wherever Mongul, Emperor of Warworld travelled, the black emptyness of space seemed to follow him. The very thought of it put the tyrant on edge, if Mongul was afraid of one thing in existence... it was the silence that the vacuum seemed to secrete. Like some sort of ghastly infection.

Ironically, Mongul thought about this in the silence of his throne room. Atop his black metal throne he pondered the mysteries of the universe... and in the back of his mind, Mongul couldn't help but smile at the plans of sheer destruction he had stored, once this little epidemic he was currently dealing with had been handled.

"Lord Mongul." One of Mongul's personal bodyguards, Lashina entered the room, flanked by several armed guards. "We've successfully entered the Sol System."

"Excellent." Mongul said, his deep, booming voice bouncing off the walls. "Set course for the nearest inhabited planet."

"Do you mean Earth sir?" Lashina asked.

"Yes." Slowly Mongul lowered his head, returning to his daydreams of battle and death. "Set course for Earth."

In the blackness of space, Mongul's ship slowly shifted its direction, turning towards the small blue dot hovering in the distance.

It was only a matter of time until the Warworld's arrival... and its arrival would be glorious.

Metropolis.

In a shining tower, guarding a shining city, watching from a shining board room stood the green armoured superhero known as Alexander Luthor. He stared down at the City that had raised him, nurtured him and turned him into the man he was... and he was thankful he'd finally been given a chance to return the favour.

"Beautiful sight." Luthor said aloud. Behind the billionaire a bright blue light shimmered into existence, with the Blue Lantern known as Sinestro slowly materializing into the area. "Best shared with friends."

"How did you know I was here?" Sinestro asked while slowly hovering next to the billionaire. "I didn't trip any alarms." He pointed out, the blue of his uniform shining brightly.

"Only the alarms you know about." Luthor said, the faint traces of a smirk upon his face. Slowly, Lex Luthor turned towards his comrade. "Thank you for coming." He said before extending out a gloved hand.

"It's my pleasure." Sinestro shook Luthor's hand firmly, for a moment it almost seemed like the two were trying to see who was stronger. "Although I still have no idea why I'm here." He admitted as the two released hands, seemingly equal in pure physical power.

"Isn't it obvious?" Upon Luthor's mental command a large table with several chairs rose out of the floor. "We're here to talk." He said while gesturing for his ally to take a seat.

"About the others?" Sinestro asked while sitting at the end of the table closest to the windows. Lex sat down at the other end.

"About the League, Thaal." Luthor corrected. "We're here to talk about the Justice League."

Gotham City.

"Don't worry." Azrael held out his hand towards the two young children cowering inside the wooden wardrobe. All around him flames flickered and dashed around the room, causing sweat to dribble down his forehead. "I'm here to help."

Down in the streets of Gotham, Leonard Snart was deeply regretting his life choices. As he looked up at the burning apartment building engulfing the street he couldn't help but feel utterly useless.

KRASH!!!

A dark figure plunged through one of the windows near the top of the building. As the figure fell towards the street Leonard realized he was holding two small children under his arms... and upon spotting the red cape flowing behind him, the infamous Captain Cold realized it was his ally, Azrael.

Quickly Cold fired a blast of ice below his teammate, creating a small ice pillar for the Angel of Death, in order to slow his fall. Expertly Azrael landed atop the pillar without injury, before quickly jumping to the ground. Silently Azrael passed the two exhausted looking children to a nearby firefighter before turning on his heel and marching directly towards his teammate.

"Where's Orm?" Azrael asked, his mask generating something resembling a deep, husky voice. Black soot and ash covered the vigilante's armour... and what appeared to be a burn had torn through part of his costume, covering his flesh with a violent mark.

"Are you okay?" Cold asked quickly. "You look terrib-"

"Where's Orm?" Azrael repeated.

"He took off after the guy that caused the blaze." Leonard said, wiping soot from his usally white and blue costume. "He told me to stabilize the building once y-" Azrael gave the Captain a glare. "Oh." Cold pointed his gun towards the crumbling structure and fired on the center. After several seconds of constant fire, the building was completely enveloped in ice, all the flames had been put out and the building was no longer in danger of collapse.

"Good work Snart." A voice bellowed from down the street. Both Captain Cold and Azrael looked down the street to see their teammate Oceanmaster slowly walking towards them. He was clad in singed Atlantean battle armour, his bright red cape standing out in the night sky. Tossed over his shoulder was the arsonist responsible for causing the fire in the first place. "Excellent work, Azrael." He commented while gently placing the unconcious criminal atop the hood of a police car. He walked to his allies, his tall stature easily dwarfing both his teammates.

"Are you alright, Orm?" Leonard asked, starring at the flames still alight atop the Atlantean's chest. "You seem... slightly... on fire."

In response to Snart's question, Orm burst out laughing, in the process gently patting out the fire on his body. Azrael stared at the two in amusement.

"It's nothing serious." Orm snorted.

"We've brought together a team of the most powerful beings on the planet." Lex Luthor said before taking a sip from a clear glass of water. "No army could stand against us. No foreign nation could compare to the unit we've brought together." Lex sighed slightly. "In all honesty... we've brought together a team of Gods."

Sinestro stared at the Human with curiosity. Out of the trillions of creatures in the galaxy, the Corpsman had never encountered a being as peculiar as Alexander Luthor.

"What exactly are you saying Lex?" Sinestro asked. "That we should play God? Decide who lives or dies?"

Despite the seriousness of their topic, both Lex and Sinestro were both having a very calm, civil conversation.

"No." Lex let out a little laugh. "That's NOT what I'm saying at all." The billionaire cupped his hands together and leaned forward. "What I'm saying Thaal... is that a team of Gods... needs an everyday, mortal man to keep them in check." Sinestro raised an eyebrow in question, however before he could vocally express any queries, a small popping noise filled his ears.

"Sorry I'm late!" Almost on cue, a small, miniscule figure appeared in the center of the table before quickly beginning to grow in size for several seconds before reaching the height of an average man. "I just got back from exploring another dimension." Quickly the man stepped to the ground, he was dressed in blue and red armour, it seeming similar in weight to the armour worn by soldiers during the second World War. "I lost all track of time."

"Actually Mister Palmer." Lex said slowly. "You're just in time."

Mister Palmer unstrapped his helmet, revealing dark brown hair and grey eyes, accommpanied by relatively youthful features. Sinestro stared at the young man in amazement. Ray grinned at the alien being who seemed stunned by his sheer presence.

"Hi there." Ray said, holding his helmet underarm. A large grin on face.

"Thaal SInestro, meet Ray Palmer." Lex said. "For the time being... he's out team leader."

@boschepg: Same! Probably one of my favourite parts of both the Avengers films were the moments when they were just talking to each other.

@batkevin74: Kick it while it's down!

But sure. If this gets back up and running I'd be happy to get back on this.

@tommythehitman: : I love the Swamp Thing. Really coincidental, I just bought all 6 Alan Moore Saga trades and I am through number 5. Incredible series. It's like you read my mind...

But my username is actually not a reference to any particular character though. Just a coincidence.

@tommythehitman:

So... many... ellipses...

self proclaimed 'God of Steel'

self-proclaimed 'God of Steel'

I'd decided to treat my younger sister, Sally

No need for the comma there.

until two Gods decided to use the City as their own personal wrestling ring.

gods, not Gods. "God" is a proper noun describing a singular entity. "gods" is an adjective. City should only be capitalized when it is part of the proper title e.g. Gotham City or the City of Townsville.

He was too far away for us to make out...

Obligatory sexy Easter egg you put in everything. : P

I swear to god

God

Even... more... ellipses...

hence the Ninja like outfit he wears.

ninja-like

2 Weeks Later

Time skips.

"In all honesty... we've brought together a team of Gods."

gods.

Sinestro stared at the Human with curiosity.

human

is that a team of Gods...

gods

Good read, hiccups aside. Couple odd things like why Sinestro is a Blue Lantern rather then Green, but that's not really important. Not really a fan of the perspective changing from first person view to third person. Felt like two different stories that you put together. Or like you lost your train of thought. None of it was bad. I just preferred the first half.

@wildvine: Thanks for reading, will edit. I read this again the other day and noticed the over abundance of ellipses. It gets on my nerves now as well.

Sinestro is a Blue Lantern because Waezi made him a Blue Lantern in his own series.

And the reason why these read like two separate stories is because they were. I just thought this would never become a series so I decided to lump them together rather than leave them to rot in a PM.
