Fire at the Golden Gate

Golden Gate Bridge

Furnace flew towards the Golden Gate Bridge. Sunlight gleamed off his silver power armor, which stood twelve feet tall and had several burn marks on it from previous battles. He had twin arm mounted flamethrowers and a back pack mounted furnace attached to a hose.

As the super villain flew towards the famous suspension bridge, San Francisco Samurai pulled out his cell phone and texted a message to his Indomitable Few team mates. [Furnace attacking Golden Gate. Need backup.]

He knew Bengal would be in Oakland, probably fighting some super villain; Milk Girl was taking classes at Stanford; Dr. October, Miss Adventure and Red Cap were wine tasting in Sonoma; while Hourglass was working as a nurse at UCSF. He hoped one of them would get the message and be here in time.

Meanwhile- UCSF Medical Center

Isabelle Cham, aka Hourglass, had been working eight hours at the hospitable when she got Frank Tanaka's text. Takingher much needed lunch break, she ran to her parked motorcycle and sped towards the Golden Gate, using her ability to slow and stop time for all those around her, while also speeding up her own personal time.

It took her two minutes to reach the bridge, just as Furnace began his assault, spraying molten lead at the suspension bridges cables.

"Get these people to safety!" S.F. Samurai yelled as he jumped over thirty feet towards Hourglass, carrying a scared woman in his arms. Hourglass grabbed the woman, put her on the back of the bike and drove her to the tourist center, away from the fire based super villain. Using her time slowing power, she went back and forth , grabbing civilians and escorting them to safety.

San Francisco Samurai threw four, powerful, sharp shurikens at Furnace, penetrating his metallic hose. Molten lead leaked out the side of the hose as Furnace turned to face S.F. Samurai.

"You cannot stop the Cult of the Wicked Flame." Furnace roared. "I am one of many. We will burn the world as it stands. This bridge will melt before me."

S.F. Samurai drew his katana and pointed it at Furnace. "You will stop this assault at once."

"Ha ha ha. Little samurai, my armor is twice the size of yours. Twenty times more powerful." Furnace mocked. "I am a professional. There is none better at what I do. You'd best jump into the water now and avoid being burned alive."

With that Furnace began spraying his twin flamethrowers at S.F. Samurai while flying towards him. The Samurai jumped up, away from the flames and onto the bridges suspension cable. Throwing two more shurikens at Furnace, disabling his flamethrowers, he turned and ran up the cable, intending to lure Furnace away from the civilians.

Using the limited amount of ferro-kinesis the Furnace power armor provides, Malcolm Travers, the pilot of Furnace, mentally grabbed the nearest car and sent it flying at S.F. Samurai. The car slammed into the suspension cable, narrowly missing S.F. Samurai, who jumped over the side to avoid getting crushed.

Using a grappling hook, S.F. Samurai swung himself back up to the side of the bridge. Using the distraction, Furnace used his ferro-kinesis to rip a car door it's hinges and warped it into a flat sheet of metal. Then he wrapped the metal sheet around his hose, repairing his favourite, molten lead spewing weapon.

Furnace turned to face S.F. Samurai as the hero drew his sword and charged at him. Furnace turned the hose on, spraying a stream of molten lead straight at S.F. Samurai.

The stream stopped in mid air.

"Thanks, Hourglass!" S.F. Samurai said as he jumped thirty feet up towards Furnace with his sword drawn. Hourglass stood behind Furnace, using her time stopping powers to freeze the super villain.

S.F. Samurai landed both feet on Furnaces helmet, who floated twenty feet above the bridge. Throwing his grappling hook to the suspension cable, S.F. Samurai pulled Furnace over the side of the bridge.

Using the only weapon available to him, Furnace mentally used his ferro-kinesis to send Hourglasses motorcycle flying towards her. Just barely dodging the motorcycle, Hourglass let up on Furnace, who began spraying his hose wildly.

S.F. Samurai sliced his katana downwards, severing Furnaces hose. Molten lead sprayed all over his power armor, melting his flight capabilities.

S.F. Samurai jumped back onto the bridge, as Furnace spiraled downwards towards the bay, molten lead spewing everywhere.

"This isn't the end." Furnace yelled, as he fell towards the water. "The wicked flames will burn everything."

Furnace attacks the Golden Gate Bridge.

I'd shout out to impurestcheese's last Salamander entry that debuted Furnace, but I can't seem to find it. Actually, Fic-o-Pedia seems to be gone too.

Weird!? Maybe Comicvine is acting buggy?

@stumpy49er: cbishop here- Yeahhh, not sure what happened. My cbishop and ficopedia accounts have been banned. The ficopedia account has a message that literally says, "You cannot respond to this message because you have been banned. Too bad too sad." o.O

@bumpinthenight: Yeah, I checked the Bug Reporting section. Apparently people are getting randomly banned. Hope your posts come back. I'm sure the mods will figure it out.

@stumpy49er: I will be in a quivering fetal ball in the corner until this is all resolved, muttering, "Years of work, yearsofwork, yearsofwork, yearsofwork..."

@stumpy49er: Hah you nailed Furnace just right! Really love the fight scene and everything else that went with it.

I had originally wanted to have S.F. Samurai have a fight on the G.G.B. with another, evil samurai ( I may still write this down the road) but when you mentioned Furnace attacking the bridge, I knew I had to do this fight. One of the cool things about writing this was how different each characters powers were and how that affected the fight.

@stumpy49er: Yeah it was very cool. Flashover is getting the treatment next as he attacks the Sydney Opera House with his goon squad, ironically from the Sydney Harbour Bridge
