Lately there seems to be a problem with editing wiki pages on the Vine. First it started off with me being unable to post variant covers on new issues of comic books after which I gave up for a while. Now a week later I am trying to edit an issue's wiki page but a red alert comes on top off the page telling me that I have been currrently cut off of being able to edit wiki pages and to check my PM inbox for the reason why. However, when I go to my PM's there doesn't seem to be a message on telling me what has happened and if this is something temporary.

Does anyone have an identical problem or is it just me?

Also, if any of the mods can give me some further clarification on the problem it would be nice.

Does this message appear on all pages, or only on select few? Some pages have broken code in it that gives this message. They can be fixed though so everyone can edit them again.

The cover problem has been forwarded to the tech, when will it be fixed is up to them.

@killerz: Its not really broken code or existing pages, the problem is what is being added in submissions or what is getting caught when editing old pages, when you submit an edit the site tries to sanitize or clean it before adding it to the database, some time in the last 4-5 months the rules for what can be added to the database has become much more strict. It doesn't like non-standard characters or foreign alphabets basically, the big stuff to watch out for are non standard text characters, single quotes, double quotes, the various dashes, accents, umlauts, double spaces, text characters that look like other text characters, and sometimes even question marks and exclamation marks. All of this is mainly for the main description field but I've seen it come up for alias fields a few times.

@tdk_1997: I'll add in that this is a general issue with old pages on the site and not just on the wiki: I've tried updating old RT's and I'll get the generic error output, which usually is a 50/50 chance of the edit going through or failing. Either way, it's clearly something up with older pages more than just wiki material.

I tried adding two, quite-sanitary paragraphs to the Cable page and got the same red error message. I properly submitted a ticket, but we'll see when it gets addressed.

@renchamp: If they were clean it is most likely seeing some old existing text that isn't passing.

I've had a similar problem. Granted, I've been pretty inactive lately, but I went to update a page with some new info. While I was there I tried to break up a big block that I'd done several years ago to make reading easier.

Now it tells me "Your editing privilege have been suspended. Check you private messages to find out why." But there is nothing new in my private messages since 2013. I've tried adding data without the cleanup and that didn't work either.

What's up?
